  • Microfiber correction pad

This process produces fantastic results. Unfortunately the last two pads (red backing) I got failed after one use; the backing separated. Anyone have similar experience? I have contacted the retailer.

I have read these pads can create heat so it is best to use a backing plate with holes to help dissipate the heat.

Microfiber Correction Pads were updated. Superior chemistry on the foam composition,
and they have a dramatically stronger feel when you press on them.
Also the updated pad is now manufactured in the USA for quality assurance.

Hmm, I bought the 12 pk 5" MF pads from ADS.....i'm guessing these would be the older batches as i purchased last fall.
Think these were made in Thailand, not US...i hope they last but Meguiar's backs their stuff so I'm not concerned

These were the new pads that failed. The older ones (that are still good) have been used several times. I have contacted ADS and they said to call Meguiars' customer service. I called, but was just stuck in an endless loop of a phone menu. Sent email about failure. As of 8:30 AM EDT, no response.

Really? When my pad failed I called and had a replacement on the way in about 5 minutes.

We apologize for the endless loop of phone menus as that is not normal for our system. Calling the 800 number should put you right into the call center, and maybe a brief queue if the call load is heavy (we rarely have people on hold for more than a full minute). If you emailed yesterday you will hear back from the guys today, but since you're on the East Coast ("As of 8:30 AM EDT, no response") our guys weren't actually in yet. We're in SoCal so 8:30 AM EDT is only 5:30 AM PDT.

Of course, as I type this the guys are manning the phones so if you'd like to call now and arrange for replacements they'll be happy to assist.

Apologies for the pad failure - we have worked hard to correct the issue but there still exists the possibility that some pads still in various store inventories will fail. It's almost impossible to recall everything out there since the distribution channels can, at times, have a few layers. Just know that we stand behind every product we make, 100%, and will always take care of you in the event something fails, doesn't behave like it should, or you're just not satisfied with the product.

                    Re: Microfiber correction pad

Michael Stoops has already addressed this, but here is my take on this issue. I also had 2 failures on the microfiber pads and after talking with other detailers with the same problem, they contacted Meguiars. Meguiar's replaced all the failed pads. Nice to see a company stand behind their products.

                      Re: Microfiber correction pad

I purchased the 6" starter kit and had the same problem with the correction pad. It failed about two thirds of the way through the vehicle. I have not used the finishing pad yet, so I cannot comment on that. I will say that I was very impressed with how the microfiber correction pad eliminated swirls and fine scratches. If Meguiars has indeed addressed this problem, then I would certainly be purchasing these pads by the 12 pack.

I don't know why or how you guys destroy these pads so quickly.
I've never had a problem with them until they are old, then they will separate and I just re-glue them.

Destruction of these pads are due to a few things but one being techniques and washing.
The above poster said he destroyed his after a few panels so I can say it was his technique that ruined them, but I could be wrong.

I have been having issues with the MF pads too. Issue 1 like most people is that I had delamination, not complaining and will speak to Meguiars Customer Care. My other issue has been that the MF fibers get pretty short after a couple cars of use. I have been trying to determine the cause and I believe I have it narrowed down. My first thoughts were technique. But I use the same on car technique I was shown in Meguiars own garage. Low product amount, constant cleaning. So cross that out. Washing I have an HE washer which I put everything in and my softest plushest MF towels comes in and out of their the same. scratch that. What I believe is the only step that could cause the shortening of the MF fibers is the cleaning pad between passes step.

In Meguiars garage they have compressed air to clean the pad. I do not. I have the MF pad brush that Meguiars sells. I use the lowest speed on all my DAs when doing this step. I believe this is the only step where my MF pads are getting trimmed down in length. Am i the only one with this issue?

I have ordered MF pads from another company to check durability under similar circumstances. Will get those soon.
In the end I love MF system and use it on my car 100% of the time and use it when possible on customers cars. The results are there, I just don't really get longevity out of the pads. I toss them after only a few cars because when the fibers get short holograms start to be created.

                          I have all size pads 3", 5" and 6".
Have had issues with 5" on G110V2 and 6" on Rupes21
3" don't get much use so they are still fine.
