  • Difference between final inspection, ultimate quick detailer, and quick detailer?

All - quick question for you. What is the difference, if there is one, between these three products?

If I'm not mistaken....Quik Detailer is your every day stuff. Final inspection I think is very similar to Quik Detailer if I'm not mistaken. Perfect for just a quick clean up / wipe down and also works great as a clay lube.

Ultimate Quik Detailer is the same as Quik Detailer except it has Hydrophobic Polymer Technology which enables the product to repel water and also has some additional protection. Works great on darker finishes.

I've never used Final Inspection myself. I use QD when I'm claying the car, and I use UQD everywhere in between washes etc. I keep a bottle of UQD and a microfiber in my car at all times.

Tommy is pretty much on the spot with these three:

Quik Detailer is one of the very first such mist and wipe products on the market, but it's quite basic in approach. It really just gives you a bit of lubricity to allow you to safely wipe away light dust and fingerprints, but it doesn't really leave much of anything behind.

Ultimate Quik Detailer contains hydrophobic polymers, like Tommy said, the help to promote water beading and increase gloss a bit.

M34 Final Inspection would be closer to Quik Detailer but with one major exception: it's the only body shop safe mist and wipe we make, meaning there is zero silicone in it that would negatively impact the painting process if any of it got onto a panel that was about to be painted.

Ok Michael thanks for the heads up. So for me. I would use the quick detailer for my daily dust removal and other removal such as water spots, etc.

I would use ultimate quick detailer when? Would I use this after washes? Would I use this between waxes? I thought that was when I used my ultimate quick wax spray? You know to keep the ultimate liquid wax in good shape.

M34 final inspection would be used as a primer to my yellow and black detail pads. When else would I use it?

        Thanks for the advice.

You would use either Quick Detailer or Ultimate Quick Detailer as an alternative to a full wash to remove light dust. If you haven't used any sort of quick detailer in say a week or so I would definitely wash it because the dust/dirt accumulation would be to heavy for a quick detailer. The Ultimate version would leave a little something behind to help repel water but the Ultimate Quick Wax would be better in this regard and is something you would want to use after a full wash. Hope this helps clear things up a bit!

The response quoted below sums it up nicely....

Bottom line - you don't need all three since, in simplest terms, they all do the same thing. Quick detailers are designed for removal of light surface dust, and all three of these fit into that basic category, but with slightly different qualities. Regular old QD is our recommended clay lube. We don't recommend UQD for claying because the polymers in it make the surface too slick and will diminish the ability of the clay to do it's job. M34 is recommended for body shop use during the buffing process to aid removal of dried compound, to clean the surface of light dust, pad priming during rotary use, etc - this is simply due to M34 being the only "body shop safe" mist and wipe we make. For the average user, enthusiast, etc it isn't really a necessary tool to have in your arsenal.

So, for the most part, UQD will probably be your go-to mist and wipe to be used between washes for safe removal of light dust, fingerprints, etc. Ultimate Quik Wax, on the other hand, is great immediately following a wash to boost the protection and gloss. It works especially well during the drying process, too.
