  • Best Tire Cleaner Part 2 - Meguiar's D101

I made a thread recently called perfect tire cleaner or best tire cleaner where I explain how I use D101 and why I think it's the best tire cleaner out there.

There were a few comments in that thread I'd like to respond to in this video.

The main comment I'd like to address was using a dirtier tire which I certainly did this time around.

Hope you enjoy, video in link!!

    Great vid!

That ought to silence the critics.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I like Super Degreaser for tires the best but APC is great as well.

I have tried undiluted SD and APC but I find that at dilutions of 4:1 for both there is no difference in cleaning between the full strength and diluted versions.

We also recommend that you dilute either at least 4:1 with water if for no other reason than cost effectiveness. Roshan, that's a great video and it's not a big surprise that D101 APC cleans so well as it's pH is on par with D143 and Hot Rims All Wheel & Tire Cleaner. For that reason, however, we caution anyone looking to use any of these products on uncoated wheels - none are recommended for that application. Factory OEM coated wheels and most aftermarket painted wheels should have no issue, and chrome wheels will be perfectly fine as well, but uncoated or anodized finishes could be stained by any of these products.

Thank you for the compliment on the video and the caution on the product.

When working on expensive and non-OEM wheels, I do change to another product that I use on wheels and tires that is much safer, but also many times more in price

What do you recommend for aftermarket wheels? Or what is safer?

It depends on what they are. I they are uncoated aluminum then use the Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner in the blue bottle. Anything else will stain them white. I use the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner on everything else even chrome even though there is a chrome cleaner as well. But I have a bottle of the aluminum cleaner just in case I'm not sure

I know this tread is old however to the OP and the Youtude video, I would suggest that the tires is not really dirty but just the normal processing of "blooming", and any cheap dish soap would take it off and make the tire look just as good. Maybe D101 is similarly priced, but certainly not a wonder cleaner for "blooming".
