Im frustrated and dissapointed of Meguiar`s Norwegian importer.

I found them on the net first , and then called them to ask where i could buy the products they then reffered me to a shop whom i live close buy. I went there but there was no products there at all, i asked the guy at the counter he said they didnt want to sell Meguiar`s anymore.
Not the importes fault i know but point is on the phone the importer said that if there was any products that they didnt have at that shop i could drop buy their building and get it there. So i decided to drive there its not to far so not a big deal going there either, but then it was noone there!! I thought ok maybe they had to go somewhere or something so i decided to go back another day.
But first i went buy this other company called Dekkamann who has a car care senter with your products, to try to get what i wanted there but just a few products in that shop aswell. I asked for the Clay bar set but they didnt have it.I did buy a few products. couldnt stand to go home empty handed hehe.
So i decided to drive back today but again noone there
Frustrating since they said just to drop buy and buy the products i needed. So first meeting with Meguiars has been a little frustrating.
www.meguiars.no is the web site and if you can get thru the norwegian language and see the product line is not much to show for yet. they dont even have the new nxt line sadly.
Forbruker produkter = consumer products> bilpleie and you will see the product line.
Another thing is its very expencive they clay set is 3 times more expensive wonder why.

But i am not giving up on them hehe
Maybe they just started here in Norway? i dont know. i like that they have the g-100 though.. its listed under proffesional products only for some reason.
I hope i dont sound like im whining to much its not my intention.
I just hope it will get better from here.
Will you come and do detail classes for us in Norway aswell? You are very welcome to do so
    buy buy for now

ps sorry if its lot of spelling errors and weird language

    Hi Paddington,

I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment and experience. My field of expertise is not in shipping and distribution, but I do know there are hurdles to jump over when bringing products from America to another country.

I'll pass this on to Tom MacDonald as well as Customer Care and see if they have any information on this topic.

Yeah i guess bringing the products here requiers translating the labels and maybe the gouverment has to approve them in some way?
        Thanks for your respond guys.
If i cant find them here i have an alternetive in that my sister lives in Atlanta so i can order to her house and she sends the products here hehe.

ordering products on line and having them shipped to your sisters Atlanta address may be the best solution at this moment. If I hear something back from Internation division regarding this I will post it on this thread.

I solved this today I found out that its 2importers one for the pro line and one for the consumer line. And the one i went too was the pro guy.
Today I called the other company and got my things . Had too drive 45 min. back and forth though.
But they gave me 15% discount atleast for the trouble of going all the way there.
The products sure get pricey here quick clay detail system is 45$ !!!
It will be much cheaper to get it thru my sister but i didnt have the time to wait this time.
Needed to clay and wax hehe.
I bought clay set ,nxt wash and nxt wax. Costed me 114$
              lol talk about price jump.

                    Meguiars in Norway

                    Hi yawl.

I can unfortunately, only agree with the experienses Paddington have had with the importers of Meguiars in Norway. They are hard to get a hold of, other than on phone and expensive.
As mentioned before, Norsk Prol have the pro-stuff and Panvulk the stuff for us "normal" people.
I think both companies only have Meguiars as a "bi-product" and they are mainly focused on other things.
I first met Meguiars-products on a stand Norsk Prol had at an auto-show and was quite impressed. I ordered 5 products, the Diamond-cut, Polish, Sealer and 2 polish-pads. 2 first bottles was regular size (not gallon) and the Sealer was small. This totaled about 280 dollar back in 2001. On question about the high prize, ( about 4 times higher than the next leading brand, Auto Glym)
the sales agent said that it was because they lasted longer and you didn't have to use so much each time.
I honestly thought they where so expensive untill I looked around online.
Since 2001 I have now acuired Meguiars-products that would have costed around 2500.- dollars if bought by the agents in Norway.
I sold about half of all my products to friends, for less than half the price of what the dealers here in Norway charge, and I still made a good profit.
I can recommend Ebay as a good source, in addition to the European Meguiars site.

                    Sincerely, Erik

Yeah their prices are sky high on many of the items.
In the future i will buy my Meg. products elsewhere.

Another example is the G-100 priced at $225.95 at the online shop in US they wanted 5800NOK for it here in Norway thats about $950!!!!!!
Thats from the pro products guy though.
I did however wash, clay and wax my car with NXT yeasterday and I am very happy with the result
Not so sure if its a bi-product for them I keep seeing a car with Meguiar`s adds all over it.
The consumer company said they have had the products for 3 years but I know its a tough market with lots of competition so I guess it takes time to build the name up.

                      Tom Erik

                        Paddington
Nowaday i ask my friend in NY to order online and ship to me. With that, not only can i get everything i want. I can enjoy a small saving as well. ( Even an expensive airfrieght i have to content with) But at the end of the day, i can use several products in a quantity and price I am happy with. I think this is probably the best way for MEG lovers like ourselves.

                        Good luck.

                          Disappointed

                          Hi again.
Paddington, if you live close by to either Drammen or Oslo (Roea) you should see their van frequently, since they have their office and warehouses there.. lol.
I also see it every now and then, because one of their employees live closeby..
If you look on the site to "Norsk Prol" you can see that Meguiar's is only one part of their product-line, so maybe they're not putting so much effort in selling their products. After 3 years in selling Meguiar's-products, they should be having enough market share to lower their prices. Instead they have increased almost 60%. From 76 dollar for a bottle #83 DACP 320z, when I bought mine 3 years ago, untill 127 dollar today.
Remember those American-style retractible camping/hunting-chairs that came on the market a few years ago. They where around 80-100 dollars a piece to begin with, and now you can get them for around 20-30 dollars.
I believe that Meguiar's is such a good product, that it would sell itself, if advertised properly. At least it does so with the small amount I'm importing for me and friends/fellow car-enthusiasts.
Only having a stand at car-shows or drive around in a van with Meguiar's-stickers doesen't really reach the big masses.
Another thought is that maybe Norsk Prol mainly sell to car-detailers, and Panvulk are mainly delivering to car-sales companies.. They usually don't look so close on invoices as we single individuals do..

I've given this issue a lot of thoughts lately and I really want to start up as a distributor here in Norway. Focusing only on Meguiar's. My main goal will be to have Meguiar's products out to every Gas-station and Auto-parts stores in Norway.
I know this involves a lot of time and money to start with, including going to USA to learn more about the product (on my own tab, off course), but I'm really willing to give it a try. If Mr Phillips would maybe, help me in the right direction. A person I could contact, as a beginning, please.
I'll be happy to give all my "states" away..

                          Per-Erik.

Norsk Prol And Panvulk are official importers for Meguiars in Norway. They are supported by Meguiars Europe, "owned" by Meguiars USA. I dont think they want several importers to the same country.

If you read the closed threads in this section youll know how they "behave" on these issues. They dont even want us to buy stuff from Meguiars.com either......they dont ship outside USA.

After I started the "too pricey.." thread I was contacted by Norsk Prol AS. They wanted to offer me a discount on all proffesional products. But even with a 15% discount their prices are too high.

I ordered lots of Meguiars products from a Megs dealer in USA and Im saving loads of money this way. Its easy to get these products online, if you use an adress in the US.

I feel Norsk Prol and Panvulk are not doing a good job with Meguiars in Norway. When I mention Meguiars to my friends, they dont even know what Im talking about. Even they who have heard about it, has never "seen" the products available. Turtle Wax, Autoglym, Simoniz, Sonax etc. you get on every corner, but Meguiars is impossible to find....

Ill guess I have to market these products by myself......

                            //Tom

That closed thread is supposed to be reopened today. Not that it will do much good. Megs knows exactly whats going on with pricing in other country's and couldn't care less. You really can't do much about it except purchase other brands. Or find a way to get Megs cheaper some where else. One thing is for sure, if Megs charged Americans the same prices as they do the rest of the world they would not be in business for very long.
