Express Wash as Waterless Wash, Remove Wax?

I am going to be using Express Wash & Wax, but *IF* it is a day I'm going to apply full wax, I thought I might try Express Wash instead since it's even cheaper.

I saw some mention at 1/4 ounce in a 32 ounce spray bottle works well as a waterless wash / quick detailer.

However, at that concentration, will it remove wax already there? While I would be waxing that day, I still don't necessary like removing MORE wax than I would in a regular quick detailer. I realize you're always removing some when cleaning but would Express Wash at that radio 1/4 ounce in 32 ounce bottle, remove even more wax than a regular detailer like Quick Detailer?

That ratio is equivalent to 1 ounce of D114 to a gallon of water, which is our recommended dilution ratio for a very dirty car when using this as a rinseless wash. If the wax you have on the car is a carnauba that was applied two or three months prior and there's barely any of it left on the paint anyway, you may very well end up taking off what little is left. If, on the other hand, you've got a more durable polymer product on the paint (NXT, Ultimate, etc) that was applied quite recently, no problem at all. In short then the answer, as is so often the case in this hobby, is "it depends".

All that said, given what we know about the way you take care of your cars, you've got nothing to worry about using D114 at this dilution ratio. D114 can be a very effective panel wipe (aka wax stripper) if you use it at a 15:1 ratio or stronger, but that's so far beyond what you ever do in normal use that it's a non issue. In fact, for anyone looking for a good do it yourself panel wipe, try mixing up a 32 oz spray bottle with 30 ounces of water, 2 ounces of D114 and an ounce of 91% isopropyl alcohol. Yeah, yeah, we know - that adds up to 33 ounces but it will still fit in a 32 ounce bottle.

Ok, great, sounds good! Maybe I can even go on the low side of 1/4 ounce to make it slightly weaker.

The way people mention this product cleans so well, I was a bit concerned that in the washing ratio it was removing wax (more so than regular washing), but it sounds like that is not necessarily the case at that ratio. Great!
