  • 14 SHO vs 14 Charger RT

I am cross shopping a 14 SHO vs 14 Charger RT, with the following options:

14 SHO: 401a pkg, Performance pkg and NAV
    Total MSRP: 45k

    http://www.ford.com/...aurus/trim/sho/

14 Charger RT: Road and Track pkg, Driver confidence group, Super Track Pack and NAV
    Total MSRP: 37K

    http://www.dodge.com...013/charger/rt/

Straight line performance they are both very close 0-60 5.2-5.4 1/4mph 13.7, on the track automotive reviews indicate the SHO seems to have the edge.

    Personal PROS/CONS:

    SHO:
    AWD
    Better track performer
    Better MPG

    Charger RT:
    Cheaper
    Better looking
    More interior room

    Thoughts?

You could build a Charger with the AWD to even out the playing field.
However, my votes goes for the SHO. You can go either way with the exterior but I prefer the SHO's interior.
Besides.... too many Chargers on the road... well at least in my area that is.

I know but the AWD RT doesn't perform as well due to the added extra weight, I should have stated that. SHO interior is nicer but the rear seat is crapped and you can't see out the back window. Charger has much more interior room. I keep going back and forth.

Would this be a buy or a lease?
If a buy, aren't Fords more reliable?

For a similar price... you could get an Acura TL SH-AWD.
The torque vectoring is pretty awesome if you can get over the exterior style a bit.

Lease and I am going to best the piss out of it at the strip and track lol. I have a 10 GT500 and a 13 Durango RT and no problems with either.

Can't get over the exterior styling of Acura.

I'd go with the 14 SHO. AWD = consistant grippy launches. Being a mustang owner I am just a "little" biased though. Lol.

Seriously both are great cars, just too many Chargers on the road.

The SHO is a nice car, but WAY overpriced IMHO. If you can afford to drop $45K on a car, you should be looking at the Superbee or Charger SRT8. Now you get 470 HP and 470 lb. ft. and you are at a whole different level. And it will kill the SHO and the R/T at the track.

The fuel economy numbers on the Ecoboost are overstated. Unless you drive like a granny, you are going to get similar numbers to the R/T.

My R/T has been bulletproof. BTW the Charger has a longer powertrain warranty, at 100,000 miles compared to 60,000 for the Ford.

I am getting the SHO for invoice minus 3750 in rebates which brings it down to 38k. An SHO with just a tune will run 12's and the magazine track reviews with the performance pkge are very good.

                  Leaning towards SHO, for now.

$3750 in rebates on a 2014 already? That is surprising, especially on a high performance model. No way you could buy an SHO around my area at anything near invoice.

Not crazy about the Lincoln's looks and I am getting the performance package for the track which is not available on the Lincoln.

The perf. pkge makes a big difference in track performance. I plan on using the SHO at the drag strip and road course.
