  • Lowest Temperture for applying UC and UW

I read somewhere here that the lowest temperature wax could be used is around 50F. That is about what it is going to be on Friday (maybe even a tad lower outside) but in the garage it should be a tad warmer. Anyway, will UC and then UW, perform up to standards at around those that temperature? I have used M16 at lower temps, and the only problem with it, was a longer drying time, which is no problem. I "gots" lots of time, and refreshment, to wait for it to dry.
    Thanks for the help.

I've used NXT and CG Plus at slightly below 40F with no problems.

The wax, or a cleaner/wax would be ok at lower temps, or might get a little streaking at most... the paint correction can be a bit tougher if it is cold.

      50 should be ok though.

Murr, are you saying that the Ultimate Wax will be fine at 50F but the paint correction, Ultimate Compound, "will be a bit tougher if it is cold"? I have only used UC once in a 70F garage. (wonderful stuff) Thanks.

I dont think 50 counts as cold... I was refering more to the 30/40....

Our recommended "lowest usable temperature" is 50F but that's really more of a guideline than anything else. As you've already experienced, drying time can be extended with waxes but with compounds and polishes the opposite can happen and the product will dry out prematurely, shortening buffing cycle.

Ultimate Wax is pretty forgiving, however, so we doubt you'll have any issues applying it in temps even a bit below that. It also dries pretty quickly, so usually once you've covered the entire vehicle it should be ready (or darn close) for wipe off.

Looking forward to your observations/thoughts on Ultimate Paste.

Thanks everyone. Yes, Michael, I will certainly do that as I am very curious how it compares to M16 for ease of use. However, only time will tell if it is as durable.
Will let you know my thoughts on the application this weekend, and hopefully I can get back to you in three to four months and say "She's STILL beading". . Thanks again.
