  • 2008 Mustang GT Convertible

So our company's CFO asked me to restore the paint on his wife's Mustang convertible. It was Tan on Black, with a Tan top. There was one word to describe the paint on this 90K mile car - abused. I told him there was nothing I can do with the rock chips (front looks sandblasted), and the very deep gouges on the paint, but for the rest, I will do what I can within the scope of the service he selected from my detailing menu.

    Here are some before pics.

driver front fender, with deep gauge on it, just aft of the fender arch and ends slightly above the GT badge:

    hood:

    driver door:

    rear driver side fender:

    one 50/50 shot:

    trunk before:

    trunk after one pass:

    Final pics:

like i said, nothing i can do about the rock chips:

    gouge is barely even noticeable:

    finished product:

    thanks for looking guys!

thank you! for the first pass I used M105, especially for the really deep scratches. as a second pass, i used D151 followed up by M21.

You have to feel both bad and good for this car at the same time. Bad that it's been so neglected for so long, but good that it finally got the treatment it deserved! You did an outstanding job on this car and it looks fantastic now. It's really tough (almost impossible, really) to take a neglected, 90,000 mile car and truly make it look brand new again. Let's face it, it's never going to be 100%, but even at 90% it's better than the vast majority of cars on the road. Going from being an embarrassment to something the owner can be proud of once again is huge. Nicely done!

Sometimes the highlight of my day is wiping off compound on a 50/50 test area and seeing a defect free finish compared to the swirl damaged finish.

Wow, you worked a miracle on the Mustang and made my day vicariously too ! !

Thank you! I had to go over several sections more than twice, as some of the scratches were really bad. M105 did most of the hard work, and i used D151 to refine some sections. the 50/50 and before/after shots were mostly only after one pass on M105.

here are some of them side by side:

by far my fave was this finished hood shot:

Look into it, it's not your grandpas touch up paint, it's magic paint, wipe on wipe off, it's realy that easy
