    Rupes LHR21 ES Wax/Autoscrub question

I recently purchased a Rupes LHR21ES and I was wondering if this machine is too powerful to apply wax and use a Nanoskin Autoscrubb. I know this machine is a cutting machine due to the 21mm orbit so I was wondering if it is safe to use.

    Thank,
    Jason.

    Hello

I used my Rupes to clay the paint using the auto scrub. I also used it to jewel the paint. With a red buff n shine foam pad and M205.

I did not try applying a wax or removing it using the Rupes. However, I don't see why it should be a problem. I could be wrong though.

    Hope that helps some,
    Art

Oh and btw. Jeweling the paint using the Rupes really warped the foam pad. Enough that I had to throw it away, but I'm happy with the results so it was a small price to pay

Here is my car now with opti coat. The tires have 2 coats of Meguiar's Endurance tire gel. (Great stuff btw)

Thanks for the info. I will try the nano skin and the Rupes on the next vehicle I do.

I wouldn't. The Bigfoot is an aggressive machine. You should use a regular DA.

I have used my Rupes 21 with 5000 grit 3m paper on a few hoods and trunk lids without any problems . Use you speed selector wisely. Maybe on one or two max. Remember a little common sense goes a long way. Some people can ruin a cement slab with a rubber hammer.

I was was thinking that. I currently use the rupes with 105/205 and a 7424xp for autoscrub and wax.

How did jeweling the paint ruin a pad? What speed were you running at and for how long?

As to the original questions in this thread: you should have no issue applying wax with the Rupes 21 other than maybe along trim edges where that very long throw might make things a bit tricky, but that's about it. If you're going to use a Nanoskin or other clay substitute with the Rupes it's wise to follow Paul's recommendation of a slow speed setting to start and adjust when/if needed. Just be aware that this can be a pretty aggressive way to remove bonded contaminants from a vehicle and there is a greater potential for light marring if you crank up the speed. The same can be said when using a more traditional DA for this purpose.

I always have the DA set to speed setting 1 maybe 2 while using the Nanonskin.
