Re: New Chinese DA 21mm (Rupes Copy)

We buy Chinese made products, knowingly and willingly. I've been buying Apple products since the 80's. Do I think they were made better in California, or Cork, Ireland or at the Foxconn factory in China. I'm really not sure. I do believe, "Caveat Emptor", no matter where a product is designed or made.

Ah, but "power" rating of the motor, in and of itself, doesn't really tell you all that much. You can have one motor with a higher power rating than another, but if it's an inefficient motor it won't give you as much useable power as the one with the lower rating (assuming that lower rated motor is a highly efficient unit, of course). Case in point, the Rupes 21 has a motor rated at 500W while a certain pretty popular 6" DA on the market has an 850W rating on its motor. But the Rupes 21 will buff circles around that other tool, and it's not just because of the longer stroke.

        There is no doubt.

I was just stating that the Ansi 21mm DA had a more powerful motor. Never mentioned it could correct faster than a Rupes 21 because we simple don't know yet

        Stay tuned

I'll be comparing the MaxShine with the Ansi with the Rupes 21 and the GG6 and Megs DA. I'll be looking at correcting power as well as the machine ease of use and noise levels

I have some equipment to help me test. I'll be measuring polisher temps, rotating speed, noise levels, vibration levels.

In line with Mr. Stoops preceding comment, I would revise "more powerful motor" to "more powerusing motor" (I know, it's not a word).

What really specs a motor's capabilities is BHP or HP (even fractional HP motors). Unfortunately, most small motors and devices like this are misrepresented by Amp or watt ratings. It is a blurring of the motors capabilities. The amp rating is only worth a damn for what an electrical outlet or circuit needs to be rated at.

Think of a cars engine. You can have a gas guzzling, huge engine that has less HP than a much smaller, expensive, efficient engine.

I'm looking forward to this. Please post a link here when you've done the review.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

My first experience with this was a few years ago during a time of suspended driver's license when buying a moped. Couldn't afford a Honda (and they looked like $h!t), or a vespa. Went down to the local moped box. 90% of these mopeds didn't even have a brand name. Because of the lack of copyright, registered trademark, parents, etc in China, the companies all started copying each other to such a sick degree, that it was literally "moped in a box"-no guarantee which factory any specific part came from and it didn't matter because they were all ****. Almost all the parts were interchangeable, you could just order generic part c4356, it would be super cheap, and guaranteed to break in under 5000 miles. I had to rebuild my engine after the first 1200 miles because I blew my head or something. Engine rebuild-parts and labor-$80. I asked if i could please order what would be considered "top of the line parts" for my rebuild, i really didn't mind spending double or triple the cost if it got me reliability. The service manager laughed, he said there is no such thing. He's like look: 20 different companies in China make this part, they are all exactly the same as far as i can tell and all the prices vary by about a whopping $2 USD..............started having problems again 900 miles later. Luckily I soon got my driver's license reinstated, and bought a real bike, a Honda shadow, that lasted through lots of abuse and kept delivering. Once they start copying and lowering prices it becomes a reverse-capitalism battle to see who can make a slightly cheaper part and undercut the competitor by even a few Pennies. This viscious cycle continues until there really are no quality parts and no brand names left in existence. My short lesson on Chinese-knock-off-factories.
