Meguiar's White Polish.

    Meguiar's White Polish.

    My daughter has bought herself a white car that is s solid colour and I asked the owner when was it last polished and he said only once since he owned it,now I will be doing the usual wash and claybar treatment and then followed with ultimate compound then with ultimate polish,now to finish it off to seal it in would you recomend the new white polish or to seal it with a wax.Up until now I have only been working with metallics and dark colours so abit of info on the white polish will be great.

    White wax is an all in one product (AIO) that cleans, polishes and protects. Dedicated products with a dedicated purpose will always outperform an AIO. White wax will remove the polish step you use with ultimate polish and in reality you have wasted time by doing those two and follow up with white wax. Since you are using ultimate compound, ultimate polish why not finish it off with NXT 2.0, M21 or ultimate wax. White cars look great with a sealant (synthetic wax). If time is of importance then use white wax. It should give you about 1-3 months protection.

      Agreed.

      So (after washing & claying) depending on the paint, the severity of defects, what you're trying to achieve and how much time you're willing to spend, you could go with:

      - White wax only, or
      - WW then UW for extra protection, or
      - UC / WW / (optional UW), or
      - UC / UP / UW.

        Thanks guys for the responses they are appreciated,Davey the car is a VY SS Commodore Herron White,I like to spend as much time as possible when doing this I usually set a weekend aside as I like to get everything from the full affect of the polishes I use and I really like it when I see a white that just hits you that has been taken care of.

          Just as side note, I don't think white wax is available in Australia yet, it will have to be ordered in.

            I had to do that when I wanted 105 and 205 to buff the new paint on my Monaro as it is not on the shelves here.

              Tony, this car sounds like the perfect candidate for White Wax, but really only for someone looking to do a one step process. It sounds like you're a bit beyond that in your capabilities and desires, so if you're going to use either Ultimate Compound/Ultimate Polish or M105/M205 then we would recommend going with a dedicated synthetic product like our NXT Tech Wax 2.0 or Ultimate Wax. The cleaning ability of White Wax will be lost on a finish that has been fully corrected with a dedicated compound, and of course such a product will do a better job at defect removal than White Wax can. Although it must be said that White Wax, when applied with a polishing pad and a DA buffer, can do some remarkable things on its own. But again, it sounds like you're more enthusiastic about this, so individual steps is the way to go for maximum result.

                That must have been a while ago.

                105 & 205 have been available here for a few years, albeit not on shelves (I don't think) but rather through our Megs distributor.

                  Thankyou Michael I will be going with that prcedure and will be doing it on the weekend,Davey you are right I meant I had to order it in from the distributer as it is not on the shelf and not cheap either but you pay for a quality product that works.

                      Guys I spent all weekend on the car and finished it off with NXT 2.0 and I was wrapped with hoe it made the white stand up my daughter was over the moon and loves it,sorry I have no pics as soon as it was done she she went away on holidays,I just want to thankyou guys for all your advice with the white I appreciate it.
