    Cleaning a 2014 Ducati Monster 796 (plastic tank)

    What would you recommend to clean the plastic tank/rear cowl?

    Looking for something that would add protection as well as clean the surface and possibly remove blemishes (bugs, fingerprints, etc).

    Maybe ultimate quick detailer followed by ultimate wax or spray wax.

      Do you have any pics of the surfaces you're talking about?

      I'm thinking a wash, clay and cleaner wax..

        Sadly no pics of the surface, it's a glossy painted finish (again plastic) on the sides of the tank, and a semi coarse strip that rolls up the middle towards the triple clamp and around the ignition.

        I did use Quick detailer today, I know it won't provide any real protection, but it cleaned the plastic VERY well, will give it a bit to cure. Didn't use too much, just enough and used a light sweeping motion, drying all parts.

        Not too well versed in plastics.

          The painted plastic, I would definitely wash, clay and cleaner wax.

          The "semi coarse strip" - is that painted?

            Yes! It is a lighter black, almost greyish color, than the tank itself, which is matte black.

            Washing is difficult as my condo association does not allow "WASHING OF VEHICLES".

              Try a warteless or rinseless wash such as UWWA, D114, or D115.
