  • Hunk of Junk Resurrected/Still Shines Supreme

After doing a waterless wash on my hood the other day [yes, sometimes I'm lazy and just wash my hood. Lol] and topping it off with D156, I couldn't help but be amazed at the condition this hood was in when I found it.

Mild clay need not apply.. After years of neglect and sun beaten abuse it was literally junk...

But after just 1 night at the Meguiars garage, Senor Michael Stoops demonstrated there was indeed a diamond in the rough.

And best of all, even after a few months and many washes including numerous waterless washes, I'm proud to say there's no swirls in sight

    Excellent work... it's looking great.

    Talk about an extreme makeover!!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Looking good. I remember when Mike helped bring back some life into the hood. You shouldn't have any swirls as long as you keep doing it the way you are doing it. The green color looks good.

Nice to see that hood is still looking good, Ric! It was great fun sanding it and polishing it out, and it's amazing what a bit of light DA sanding can actually do for severely weathered paint!

Wow that's an awesome recovery! Must have been an honor for senor Stoops to wetsand and polish your hood.

            Keep it looking great!

You don't see that emerald green around anymore, nice recovery.

@Marc08EX. An honor and a privledge indeed.. I had been to Meguiars a few times prior, but being a spectator is 1 thing.. Actually having your car parked at Meguiars headquarters, inside Meguiars custom built for detailing garage, the same spot where countless photos & instructional videos have been filmed is a totally different thing.[at least to me it is]

I remember showing up early that afternoon, showing up with my car looking much different than it used to.. My cars hood was now a different color than the rest of the car [I was in a car accident] Not to mention my 'new' hood had some of nastiest looking defects anyone could even imagine. Lol. When I pulled the car in it got a mixed reaction to say the least.. A few people seemed confused about what was going on. They wern't sure why a car with such horrible looking paint was parked in front of them. Looking back I can laugh at some of the innitial reactions..

I honestly wasn't expecting much to happen that day. I was just hoping to maybe sneak my car in just to see if the DAMF System could make an improvment on a test spot and quickly give way to other more desirable cars..

I had planned to have my car re painted. But after the extreme makeover the paint recieved I've decided to keep it this way. I really like how the hood allows me to reap the rewards of having a dark color paint, while the rest of the car being light metalic green is very forgiving compared to the hood.

The funny thing is I sometimes get compliments from people [usually strangers at the gas station] about how clean my car looks or how it looks so well maintained.. I've yet to get anyone ask me why my car's 2 different colors! Lol.

Side note: I thoroughly cleaned my top as best I could and it's never looked better. I'm looking into getting some fabric protectant now.

                Thx for reading. Happy detailing
