I had the privledge to work on this custom lowrider and get it ready for a car show that took place on New Years Day. Complete interior/exterior detail was in order..
As you can tell by the condition of the mats, the interior was due for some major TLC.
Carpet saw a big difference thanks to D101. As did the rest of the interior, especially the leather seats w/steam cleaner.
The vertical panels only had minor swirls. Perfect time to break out the brand new Megs Foam Finishing Discs. Paired up with M205 they worked excellent. Minor swirls removed with ease.
But then things got a bit tricky.. When I moved onto the hood [which had moderate/severe swirls] I went ahead and gave it a pass with the same finishing pad since it was already on my DA, as expected it had no effect. So then I tried M205 with a White Lake Country Flat Foam Pad. Same. Next I tried Ultimate Compound on an Orange flat foam pad.. Nothing.
This is when I realized I was in for a battle against some hard paint and had to reach for a bigger gun. Next up was Megs microfiber cutting pad w/D300. I finally saw results. Or at least I appeared to see results [underneath my tent]
But once I pulled back for a look in direct sunlight, there were still swirls [beyond the ones I had removed]on the paint..
I called a couple local shops hoping to buy some M100 or maybe some Extra Cut microfiber discs but was out of luck... But suddenly my cat, who had been napping on my detailing cart woke up and gave me a great idea. She said "its going to a car show right? Use the Show Car Glaze"!
I took my cats advice and used the Show Car Glaze
It took some patience, but eventually the hood was near perfect and showcar ready.
Special attention to details meant busting out the good ole Cleaner Wax to hand polish the Caddys grill.
Attention to even the smallest details.. A whole lot of pride goes into this.
Final results. I explained to the owner about using M7 on the hood and he was very pleased with the outcome as it was just in time for his big day. The huge transformation of the interior was something he didn't quite expect and put it over the top
Thanks for reading & Happy New Year!
