That's part of it. All Meguiar's sealants are pretty straightforward to apply and all are easily removed as long as it's applied thin. I can't comment on durability yet. But I have seen some posts on other detailing forums where 365 has failed within 1 month. Thus I am skeptical until I see it with my own eyes. The way it sounded is the 365 was supposed to be the craziest water beading product offered by Meguiar's. Myself and a couple others have seen the beading to be just ok. Just look at how tight the beading is on ULW. Now to me that is crazy water beading. My personal preference will always be a sheeting type sealant.

Me personally in my neck of the woods I have seen between 6-8 months with ULW on my car that sits outside 24/7 with the occasional D156. M21 seems to be about the 5 1/2 month mark for me also with the occasional D156. The weather is pretty good here so the environment is not harsh. Unlike those that live in harsher climates.

I'm just documenting how each performs and behaves with water.

In my oppinion....the sheeting speed of the PP365 looks just like an UNWAXED panel.

This collinite video is more appropriate of what I think of as a sheeting wax.

Our claim has never been that Paint Protect will provide the tightest and most uniform beading, but rather that it will bead water for up to 12 months. It is still susceptible to harsh detergents, high pH all purpose cleaners, touchless car washes (that use a one-two punch of acid wash and alkaline wash), etc. But when washed regularly with a proper car wash shampoo you should still see it beading long after traditional carnauba waxes and sealants are gone. That ULW presents smaller and tighter beading isn't really a surprise given the differences in the polymers used in the two products. It is pretty darn cool to see that uniformity of beading from ULW though, isn't it?!

As many of you know, our target market for Paint Protect is essentially "Joe Consumer" who isn't willing to put in much time at all toward keeping his car looking good, but he knows he needs to do something to protect it. It is incredibly easy to use, but we've never made claims that it's our best looking paint protectant/wax or that it provides the tightest, most uniform beading, any specific angle of incidence (we still see some trying to compare this to products like CQuartz, OptiCoat, 22ple, etc, which is just plain silly, really) or anything like that. The claim has always just been a very simple "keeps beading for up to a year", and that's it.

Having said that, it is very interesting to see The Guz's testing continue to evolve and the behavior of these products change with time. We know that not everyone is going to want the same thing out of a wax, and some still swear by carnauba even though we all know those don't last anywhere near as long as synthetics and are even more susceptible to harsher washes. It's great to see this sort of testing being done as it helps people make decisions based on third party, real world experiences. Honestly, given the level of user sophistication we see from forum members versus non-enthusiast consumers, we aren't surprised to see that many forum members would pick another sealant or wax over Paint Protect. Not only do you guys not mind putting in time to keep your cars looking good, you actually look forward to it! Heck, some of you even take the time and effort (we're looking at you, Guz!) to do testing like this. Joe Consumer wouldn't even know where to begin with such a test.

    Thanks Mike.

Unfortunately I haven't done much as of late. You and I both know the drought is of concern and we are all trying to conserve water. So unfortunately the hood is sitting in the garage collecting dust.

No it will not remove polishing oil. Ultimate Quik Detailer actually leaves protection behind.

From Meguiar's you can use D114 at strong dilution ration of I believe 15:1. I'm going off the top of my head. You may need to search here to see if I have that correct. I know at 6:1 it will strip wax. CarPro Eraser also works.

Here's a god article on how to mix IPA

I was thinking about picking up a bottle of the pink stuff since I live in Oregon. But after this test, it seems that the best protection, water beading etc is still ULW.
