Hi my name is Kyle, I tend to have OCD with my cars.

Here is my 09 VW CC

    And my 98 GTI

I started playing with some of the Meg's Pro line products a few months ago, so figured I would join the forum

And for good measure a couple pics of other cars I have detailed:
Buddy's Corrado, took second at a show right after I finished with it

Another Corrado I did the same week

Hi Kyle, and welcome to MOL!!

Great stance on the CC, and your GTI looks brand new! Looks like a little OCD is a good thing, huh?

Thanks Michael, a bit of OCD doesn't hurt any, that's for sure.

By the way, always liked the look of your CC when I saw it over on AP forums. The stance is killer. What products have you tried thus far?

Thanks! I appreciate the compliment about the car.

So far D114 is now my go to rinseless wash. I've also been liking D180. The big one for me though has been D156. Nothing but impressed with that spray wax.
Used hyper dressing on an engine bay detail I did for a friend it works well. And just bought some D101 APC a few weeks ago. Haven't had much of a chance to use it yet though. And there are a few other products I have been trying out too here and there.

Thank you! It's probably the classiest looking VW out right now IMO, but I am biased :P

You're not being biased at all.. Heck, if they offered me 2 Jettas or 1 of those, I'd take one of those without even having to think about it! Lol.

I'm sure it costs alot more than a Jetta, but dang it deffinetly looks like they put their best foot forward with that vehicle. And the Bently wheels fit it just fine. [those are Bently wheels right? Lol]

It's funny you mention Hyper Dressing under the hood, because I just got through wiping down the plastic/rubber in my engine compartment because I'm planning to drop off my car later today at the Cadillac dealer for service..

I know the owner and service manager there from years ago. A couple months ago they worked on my current car for the 1st time, and the 1st thing he said when I came to pick it up was "man for being a 97' that car is CLEAN"!

I lol'd. It's nice when people notice that kind of stuff

It was a chore finding exactly the car I wanted with this one. Ended up flying across country and having a friend check out the car for me before I bought it. The bentley wheels fit about perfect on the car. Although I may move to a multipiece bentley wheel sometime in the future.

That engine bay looks super clean for a Caddy that old!

Here's the bay I did for my buddy. It was actually a whole 2 day detail and applied Cquartz to the exterior.

And engine bay on the GTI for good measure. This thing has come a LONG way since I bought it.

What! It's one of the best if not the best looking car in the VW brand.

All great products that you have. I agree D114 is a must have. It's so versatile and in my opinion the best rinseless on the market. D156 I have nothing but good things to say about it. I have a sample of D180 and I liked it. You will like D101.

What are you thoughts on the new AP product H20 Guard & Gloss? Reminds me a lot of D156 which is a great stand alone product or as a drying aid.

Agreed, completely. Nothing i've seen can touch D114. I can't believe how well it releases dirt. I started using some of the left over as a presoak for some of my towels.

Funny you say that about the AP H2O Guard and Gloss... I was thinking that exact same thing. Sounds like similar longevity and shine too even. Guess I will have to compare them at some point.

Any other suggestions from the Megs line that you would recommend?

Re: New to this forum, not new to detailing.

It kind of depends on what you are considering. If you are looking for some other things to try:

-The new foam discs are nice if you are looking for pads

-D110 Hyper Wash is a great soap. It has a crazy dilution ration of 400:1

-If you are looking for a paste wax M26 would be my recommendation

-If you are looking for a paint sealant I would recommend either M21 or Ultimate Wax. Ultimate wax is longer lasting but not by much. Both offer different looks. M21 has more of a candy coated look where as ultimate wax darkens the paint. Topped with M26 is a killer combo.

-D149 Quik Interior Detailer if you are looking for something to wipe down the interior. This leaves UV protection behind and offers light cleaning. Similar to Adams TID. It can be topped with one of the interior protectants (Natural Shine, Ultimate Protectant, New Car Scent Protectant, Supreme Shine). Quik Interior Detailer is available over the counter if you are looking for a smaller bottle to try versus getting the gallon.

-If you are looking for an AIO either D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream or White Wax are good choice. I've used white wax and it worked very well.

-M135 Synthetic Detailer if you are looking for a polymer detail spray that leaves protection behind.

D143 Non-Acid Wheel & Tire cleaner if you are looking for an economical cleaner that does both. If you are looking for something like deep wheel cleaner then the DUB wheel cleaner is available over the counter. It's cheap and effective

Unless you already have a wheel & tire cleaner that you buy in bulk and are happy with, I agree with his recommendation of D143 Non Acid Wheel & Tire Cleaner. Works great on both surfaces with just a light aggitation.

As far as a Quik Interior Detailer, I like to use 1 of the towels I have soaking in my rinseless bucket of D114. Ring it out just enough and it makes for an awesome interior wipedown without leaving any residue or overpowering scent of its own. It leaves vinyl, plastic, and leather nice and prepped for D180, or whichever product you like to finish out with.

I have been eyeballing the thin pads a good bit. They seem like a nice upgrade. Also considering an MT300, but the new Flex PE-8 has been calling my name too.

Not sure that I could handle having more soaps LOL. I've got a gallon of Shampoo Plus, old AP, and new AP soap sitting here. Maybe I will stop doing rinseless washes so much and knock some of that down :P

Love D149 for certain plastics. It is nice because on finer textured stuff AP TID seems to streak a bit and I end up chasing my tail trying to prevent it. On older plastics, it kinda leaves me wanting more though. It's tough finding interior dressings that aren't over the top in shine and don't attract dust.

Hows M135 compared to AP detail spray or Last Touch? Last touch seems to flash off a bit quickly on warmer days for me, but is great when its colder out.

Is D143 a bit stronger than APC for cleaning tires? My own cars tires are easy to keep up on, but other people's cars I work on it always seems the blooming never ends. I have a hard time giving up deep wheel cleaner. At the price point and the fact that I can drive 10 minutes from my office at work to the AP warehouse to pick it up is hard to beat. Not everyone has that advantage though.

I've been wanting to try D114 to wipe down interiors. It has been such a versatile product! I even started using it as a panel wipe down from another thread I found. Worked great in place of CarPro eraser when applying the coating to a buddy's car. This thread: http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...e-Express-Wash

Thanks for the suggestions from both of you. Looks like I have a couple of things to pick up and try out.
