    Re: D114 questions

Personally, i'm using distilled for my D155 last touch dilution and D115, Express wash and wax when diluted. It's only 64c a gallon from Walmart, so why not... Meguiars doesn't say it requires distilled, but there's certainly no harm in doing so. I've also used D114 with tap water, and well i'll be lying if i noticed any difference. But at least with the distilled there's that little bit extra piece of mind. For us OCD folk... lol

      Re: D114 questions

I have actually tried tap water a few times along with using distilled water. I cannot tell a difference myself. One thing I have noticed is that there is streaking on the glass. I have used higher than normal concentrations of product lately so maybe that's why? I'm not sure but there has been streaking. The weather is getting warmer but not quite hot yet. I try to work a section at a time but the product has been drying quickly.

Next time I will likely use a normal dilution of product and see how it does.

      Thank you.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

            Oh ok.

I get the same thing you described, but with LT.

              Question please:

Can D114 be used to remove a wax or sealant because you want to apply another one? I'm trying out a few LSPs and have been using D114 along with polishing to remove the previous wax/sealant. This time, I plan on using only D114 to remove the previous LSP. I'm going to try 15:1 ratio and hopefully it will remove it. Maybe stronger if it's really fresh?

davey, haven't used LT. Seems like a nice product.

              Thanks.

According to Meguiars in this video, yes at 15:1 it should strip any existent waxes or sealants. Even going as far to say ideal for a body shop environment.

                  Re: D114 questions

Yep, a very strong dilution will do a great job of stripping. 15:1 is, of course, far more potent than the typical 256:1 recommended for a rinseless wash scenario. Keep in mind that D114 may not wipe off quite as easily when used like this, but it shouldn't be a struggle, either. Generally speaking, when used as a panel wipe at 15:1 you're spraying it on rather than using the volume commonly associated with a rinseless wash, so that helps the situation.

Oh ok. I was initially thinking of using 15:1 as a rinseless solution but if it is better to use it as a spray, then that's great.

                    Thank you.

                      Re: D114 questions

The 15:1 dilution worked very well! Thanks for the suggestions.

I used D114 today to clean the inside of my windows, which are tinted. It seemed to work well. I have read here that this product is safe for tinted windows but I just want to make sure.

                      Thanks.

                        Re: D114 questions

                        Good evening group!

                        2 questions regarding D114:
                        1. Do you have to wear the latex gloves to work with the product?
                        2. Does the normal 128:1 ratio leave any residue on asphalt or concrete?

                        Thank you,
                        Todd

                          Re: D114 questions

Maybe it is just me, but I always wear latex or nitrile gloves while using this or most any other car product. I have not noticed any residue at the 128:1 ratio on any of the surfaces I have cleaned my car on (drive way or my garage).

                              Re: D114 questions

I don't wear gloves when washing. The solution is just going to get into the glove either way. It can dry out your hands a bit.

It doesn't leave any streaking on surfaces. I generally use a dilution of 256:1 for rinseless washing with it though.
As for the staining on the driveway? Nope. Nothing left behind.

My driveway is just turning black from cleaning brake dust though haha
