    Re: D114 questions

We just wanted to chime in here and say we love this thread. You guys are having a great discussion about this new wave of car washing techniques with some great tips and pointers. It's great that you're all experimenting with technique and process and then sharing with each other - that's a huge part of what this community is all about. Obviously we don't have the time to chime in on every thread, but we do read them and are aware of what's going on. When we see a great discussion like this we know we're doing something right, so thanks for that!

Sort of defeats the purpose of conserving water, but I can't help myself.
I actually started saving rinseless in a bucket to throw my dirty towels in to soak while I finish a detail because it helps release dirt so well. No rinseless comes close to doing that. I still need to give D115 a go.

        Re: D114 questions

I picked up some Towel Kleen 1 gallon for $18 delivered. So I'm just piling up my MF's until I get a good 20 or so, then I'll throw them in a wash. 128oz works out to 64 loads @ 2oz per load. So its not as bad as i originally thought. As well as my Meguiars MF's which seem better quality, i picked up a stack of 36 Kirkland ones from Costco for $16. Used them to clean two cars yesterday using D115, and they did the job without issue.

          Re: D114 questions

Just wondering: Let's say one wants to strip the previous wax or sealant. Will using a rinseless solution of 1:30 be good enough or is a stronger one needed? I'm thinking it might depend on what type of product is on the car. Let's say it's a spray wax type product just for example.

Thanks for all the great replies and help!

6:1 should strip wax. Spray wax included.

              Re: D114 questions

Anyone know if the cap on D114 is 1 oz? I'm mixing some up tonight and I had to throw out my measuring cup ( used it for caustic stuff). Don't mean to hijack but I didn't think a new thread was necessary. Thanks in advance.

A cap is about 1/2 oz according to this video.

                    Re: D114 questions

So that works out as 1/2 a cap full for a 32oz sprayer at 128:1

                    or 1/4 a cap full for 256:1

or at 15:1 if you're after an IPA alternative its 4 caps. ish.....

                      Re: D114 questions

I recommend you use a measuring cup that comes with something like Nyquil. I shows 30mL which is 1 oz. Good way to measure things out.

                      Good reference.

Very nice responses and posts here. Thank you.

I'm wondering, do you guys use tap water with D114? I've been using mostly distilled water with it but thinking about using tap water. I've read that the minerals in tap water might interfere a little bit with the product but I'm not sure.

                            Thanks.

^^ I was wondering the same thing (but for diluting Last Touch).

I've used distilled until now but wondering if it's really necessary. I've heard others say tap water is fine.

The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
