    Re: car wash

For myself, I would never use an automatic car wash, for many reasons. That being said, not everyone has the ability to wash their cars in their own driveways without restrictions, such as apartment dwellers. Also, different environmental conditions in various parts of the country (world) may dictate that an automatic car wash be used from time to time - like the middle of winter in cold climates with snow and possibly salted roads. We don't have that problem in southern California, so most of us car enthusiasts here avoid the auto-wash like the plague. So, if you have ANY options for avoiding the auto-wash, do your car's paint a favor and avoid it. On the other hand, if you DON'T have any other options, then the auto wash is better than letting dirt, grime and road crud sit on your paint. I wouldn't bother spending the extra money for the less than stellar wax that is applied in those places, though. Your Ultimate Wax is a great protectant that will give you good shine and water beading for several months (depending on conditions and how often you wash). In between waxing, you might try using Ultimate Quick Wax that you just mist on and wipe off with good quality microfiber towels - use it like a quick detailer... easy on, easy off and gives a nice boost to your Ultimate Wax.

      Re: car wash

OP, are you talking about a touchless wash, or a regular automatic car wash with brushes?

Both are pretty harsh to your wax, however the touchless ones generally use detergents so strong that they'll probably strip UW in one go. So they're the lesser of two evils - you avoid swirls, but you rapidly lose wax/sealant protection.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Don't put their cheap wax over the good wax you already have on. Plus you'll save a couple of bucks.
