Hope it works out. I think I would have been ripping it apart to investigate the issue and end up doing a self-repair :-)

I was about to do that but since it's under warranty it is best to let Meguiar's take care of it. That's what it's for . I had a back up DA so it wasn't the end of the world.

I am satisfied with the quick turnaround and 2 day shipping from the service center and customer service. Was not thrilled that I had to pay to ship it for it to get repaired.

What I did do was place a note in the package to have them not pack it in the original box since it put's the cord at an awkward angle and strain. They sent it in a slightly larger box and it was packaged nicely.

I did see that over on Autogeek there are a few members who have had the same issue as I posted a similar thread there as well. Hopefully this is not a bigger problem.

The thing is, what happens if the machine decides to go after the 1 year warranty? Does the owner have to pay for the repair? This is why many praise Griots Garage and their lifetime warranty and also that they cover all shipping costs.

Good point on the Griots warranty. I only have Harbor Freight DA Polisher so its cheap and I've modified it to suit my needs.

Huge selling point for the GG DA, that is why I have 2 GG DA's and one Megs G110v2....but Megs customer service is still top notch

    Quick update.

I did have the tool fixed by Meguiar's service center. They had a quick turnaround. I had it within 2 days after they received it.

I did use the tool on an entire car and so far so good.

The MT300 is indeed a "clean sheet of paper" design, done in conjunction with a major American tool manufacturer.

Obviously nobody mass producing anything gets 100% perfect output and we are sorry to see this happening to your tool, Michael. Call the guys tomorrow AM and they'll get you sorted out. Plus, since this is posted in the Customer Service Hotline section it generates an automatic email to Brian Hann, manager of the Customer Care Center, so he'll see it, too.
I am having an issue with power, too, but it is not the power cord. I suspect the issue is probably with the digital speed control printed circuit. Just today I was using the MT300 and it started to, sporadically, lose power. Discovered that if I work on a horizontal surface, the power was relatively consistent. If I turned the unit on the side, then I would lose power. Swapped the brushes to opposite side and that didn't seem to make any difference. I bought the MT300, used, some six months ago, but it clearly needs repairs. What next?

Your issues sound just like mine and I suspect it is the power cord.

I had the same issue a second time

I used it over the weekend after the second repair and it worked fine.
