  • Repairing Chipped Paint

Hello everyone, new to the forums, so hopefully I'm in the right place! After taking my car through the wash, I've noticed my paint has started to flake on my front bumper, I've uploaded a picture here: http://pasteboard.co/2sJOvulZ.jpg how do I go about repairing this? I'm not looking for a professional finish or anything fancy. I've bought some simple touch up paint and I went to Wal-Mart and bought an assortment of sandpaper (1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 grit) but I'm not sure how to go about this. Which grit should I use? Would it be as simple as sanding around where its flaking to make it more smooth all around where it is chipped and just paint over it? I'm very new to this.

In addition, around the Toyota badge of my car, there is some rust forming around it here http://pasteboard.co/2sK43bEY.jpg I also bought 80 grit sandpaper. Anything I can do about this in a quick fix? Thank you.

not trying to be mean…but taking your car 'through the wash' makes just about everybody on this board cringe. Iowa..uses salt on the roads? = Rust.

Looks like your paint is poorly maintained…flaking and rust happen..sorry to be coming off critical..but it is what it is..
