  • Hi from Houston

Hello all. I have been lurking on this forum for the last week are so hoping to get some knowledge about detailing. I had no idea that there was such a science behind polishing and waxing a vehicle. I am working on my wife's 2005 BMW 325i (Orient Blue) because the hood was in bad shape. I'm actually using the DA power pack now with my drill and I must say I am very impressed. I'm just trying to get the feel of the process but it's turning out to be real fun and a workout.

I look forward to learning from everyone here and I've even entertained the thought of doing this on the side for a little pocket change. I know I would need more advanced tools, but I am the kind of guy who believes in understanding theory first before perfecting the actions. Well see how it goes

Welcome to Meguiar's Online! It's great to hear you are having good results with our D/A Power System drill attachment. It is a great tool and a great way to get used to using a dual action machine for working on the paint of a vehicle.

If your interested, the following below link explains in more detail the different types of paint polishing tools. This is helpful for one's own knowledge, but also if you are thinking of working on friends or family members cars who are not familiar with using machines on automotive paint:

Beginners guide to the different types of paint polishing tools

We look forward to helping you out! Feel free to share pictures of your cars if you'd like. We would be happy to see them.

Thank you very much for the link. I have been collecting useful bookmarks on detailing for future reference. I've finished the hood which was terrible and I am really happy with the results (for my first attempt). Also, how do I post pics?

You are welcome! Lots of good articles here on MOL for reference, great idea to bookmark them. To post a picture, create an album under the gallery section and then upload the pictures to that album. From there you can copy the link of the picture into your post. Keep in mind you can always "preview your post" before submitting, to make sure everything worked OK.
