  • wrong pads? am i doing it wrong? help please.....

Bought a 3" backing plate yesterday for my G100. Both pads have rippded off the backing. The first one when i was removing it. Admittedly i didnt grab it completely from the backing. But i disnt pull very hard.

Second one i noticed after doing the 3rd section of a door panel..... both brand new pads.

Am i supposed to be using different pads with this plate?

Ill attach pics once i figute out how

Thx for any tips or hints

What speed were you using? It's possible that the one pad got to hot.

Thank you for your reaponse. But i was more concerned about user error. No tips or hints when using these pads?

To the other posters question, i was using them on 5 with m205 with a decent amount of pressure

The combination of the amount of pressure and speed got to it. Created a lot of heat that compromised the pad.

Hmmm. But im not using any more pressure than i am using 6" pads. I did realise last night these pads are for a DA Power system? Somehow attach these pads to a drill?

I have my porter cable as a 3" polisher. Which has now been replaced with a Rupes Mini. I have yet to try them with the mini but I have had no issues with them on the PC. I was even using them at speed 5. But I do swap pads out often so they never get to hot. I also clean my pads quite often. I don't use that much pressure when I am using them.
