Pictures from June 16th, 2016 Thursday Night Open Garage

For this night's open garage one of our regular's Santiago brought down his sister's Honda Ridgeline to ask us what we would recommend to use for the oxidized headlights. So we said, "pull her on in!"

We explained our headlight restoration options and how they are each designed for different levels of severity. PlastX for light oxidation, Perfect Clarity Two Step Headlight Restoration Kit for Moderately oxidized headlights, Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit for heavy to severely oxidized headlights. We consider the lights on the Ridgeline moderately oxidized so we choose our Perfect Clarity Two Step Kit.

The first step in the Perfect Clarity Headlight Kit is to use the included cleaning pad along with some of the provided cleaning solution in straight line motions. (After protecting the surrounding paint of course.)

This is the appearance of one light after it has been cleaned.

No here is the cool part. No buffing with a drill! 2 coats of the included aerosol coating for clarity and protection for up to a year.

All done! This is a pretty fun product to use.

We decided to see what we could do for the paint.

After cleaning off the dirt and using detailing clay on the hood, we evaluated under different lighting.

Brad had mentioned that he likes to use our D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream on our DFC5 5 Inch Foam Cutting Disc, so I said "sure!" Our D151 is an "all in one cleaner/wax," which can be applied by pretty much any method you would like to use, hand, D/A, rotary, finishing pad, polishing pad, cutting disc, etc. This product is not going to remove all the defects & give us show winning results, we know that, but that is not our goal for this particular car & project.

    Test spot on our MT300.

Looks pretty good for a one step! There were still some deep scratches in the paint but again we were not going for complete defect removal. We removed the majority of the swirl marks, greatly increased gloss & clarity, & provided protection in an easy one step.

Starting to look a lot better.

With not a lot of other projects going on we decided to complete the whole truck

Some trim restoration going on with our Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer Aerosol

    Before

    After

Another before and after. Water spot stains, swirls

    Before

    After

Wow that is a big dent! Hey I think we have one of those dent "pull-er out-er things?!"

The Bondo 956 Double Handle Locking Suction Cup Dent Puller

With none of us really knowing how to use the tool, we decided to ask Chris to do it, and he agreed, after asking permission from the owner of course. And..... POP!

No more dent! With most of us having never seen one of these in use it was quite impressive.

Almost done! We soaked the plastic wheel wells and tires with our D171 Hyper Dressing at 3:1, used some D4510 Plastic & Vinyl Coating on the exterior window trim, and of course had to use one of our Air Refresher Odor Eliminator's in Spring Blossom Scent to freshen up the cabin for Santiago's sister. Enjoy! Thanks to everyone for coming out.
