  • Problem with G110 polisher

On my second G110 polisher just had same issue as first one i had, keeps turning on and off because of wire issue where wires enter the polisher.

Called and got a sorry about your luck attitude and said I should find a place that works on wires near me. Said they discontinued that model.

Surprised to get that attitude from Meguires ,as I have been a customer for many years.

Sign of the times we are in I guess.

      Thanks Nicholas,much appreciated!

I guess I should buy newer things, but I always liked to make old things look like new . rather than buying new things, hence the passion for detailing.

        Re: Problem with G110 polisher

        hemi,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Feel free to reach out to me directly to discuss the specifics of your situation. I don't like making assumptions in the absence of facts but in my 17 years here I have dealt with enough loyal customers to see some patterns where customer expectations are tough to meet in relation to tools. Some of those issues are...

        - Meguiar's is not a tool manufacturer. Logistically this means that we have never offered a full parts or repair program but have chosen to focus on the overall
warranty of the machine. Although we some times have specific parts or old machines around our office we do not have access to most parts of any given
machine. So when we respond by saying we do not have a particular part we honestly do not have it.

        - We offer a one year warranty. There is a reason that a one year warranty is typical in the tool industry.
That being said, we are always willing to take each claim on a case by case basis and determine when exceptions should be made for loyal customers.
This liberal take on our warranty policy can lead to frustration when customers determine that a one year warranty should be 2, 5, 10 years or even a
lifetime warranty. Even then we do our best to come up with a fair compromise understanding that some will only be satisfied with a lifetime warranty.

        - We do discontinue machines from time to time. Unfortunately we cannot keep any given machine around indefinitely. When a machine is discontinued we do
think through the implications to existing customers still under warranty and generally try to have multiple options available for at 1-2 years after it's
        discontinuation.

Please do not view this as a list of reasons to shoot down customers requests. We are simply trying to address some standard expectations surrounding the purchase of any tool. Again, these are some general sticking points we have noticed. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly so we can talk through the details of your machine.

          Thank you for responding Brian,

I read your response and understand your position, I wasn't asking to have the buffer replaced, I was just trying to talk to someone about the issue I was having and get a possible permanent correction to the issue. I was a little disapointed in being rushed off the phone.

I have decided to dissassemble ,repair, and reassemble the buffer myself and possibly try to correct the problem which seems to be a common issue of the wires breaking where the wires enter the buffer. If it cant be corrected, I guess its time to break down and buy another buffer.

You are talking to a guy who still owns a 40 year old Maytag washer and dryer. LOL
