  • Pictures from September 17th, 2016 Saturday Detailing 101 Class

Today's project car was this 1990 Mazda Miata with Red single stage paint!

You can see the oxidation on the front bumper, but it doesn't look too bad in the shade....

.....and that all changes once you get some light on the paint.

We started the class by talking through the different types of machines used for polishing paint.

Of course first things first, we wiped down the car with our Quik Detailer spray and proceeded to clay the paint using our Smooth Surface Clay Kit.

We tested our Ultimate Compound applied with our MT300, at 4800 OPM's with our red DFC5 Foam Cutting Disc. You can see we are getting somewhere! This combination worked great to remove the defects to our satisfaction. It did leave behind a little DA Haze, but it was easily cleaned up by following with our Ultimate Polish, on a DFP5 Yellow Foam Polishing Pad.

Now the class attendants get a chance to try the machine. We decided to complete the left side of the hood from start to finish, Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, and Ultimate Wax.

And here are our results! The left side of the hood was completed with our Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, and Ultimate Wax, applied with our MT300 Dual Action Polisher.

    Before

    After

We couldn't send the car owner down the road with only half the hood done (although it kind of would have been fun to show everyone), so we completed the un-corrected side.

Hood & front bumper complete. Oxidation, Swirls, Scratches, & Stains all removed.

Thanks to everyone for coming out! Feel free to contact me with any questions.
