Some serious headlight restoration going on during this TNOG! This was the headlights a 2004 SL Mercedes Benz.

    They have seen better days...

We started sanding using a 3 Inch Pneumatic DA Sander along with our S4F1000 3" UniGrit 1000 Grit Foam Finishing Disc. This helps to level the damage on the top of the headlight, but it did not touch the remainder of the coating on the lower half of the light!

A 1999 Porsche Carrera wearing a metallic blue color was in need of an extreme makeover! We took some pictures in the sun and then rolled her in the garage to start a test spot.

D300 DA Microfiber Correction Compound w/ DMC5, 3 - 4 section 50 % overlapping passes, in a 2ft square area at a time, moderate pressure, moderate arm speed, at 4800 - 5800 OPMs. This paint was a little on the soft side, and it produced quite a bit of haze, but there we so many random deep scratches, we stayed with our Microfiber Pad to level them out. If the car did not have as many deep rids, we probably could have gotten away with our DFC5 Red Foam Cutting Disc.

Back to the headlight restoration on the Mercedes, we ended up having to go down to 320 Grit from our Professional Headlight & Spot Repair System. 300 > 500 > 800 > 1000 > 3000. Picture below is after 320.

    Break for pizza

On the Porsche we followed with M205 Ultra Finishing Polish w/ Soft Buff Yellow Foam Polishing Disc (DFP5), 3 - 4 section 50 % overlapping passes, in a 2 ft square area at a time, moderate pressure, moderate arm speed, at 4800 OPMS.

Lastly, we used our M21 Synthetic Sealant w/ Soft Buff Black Foam Finishing Disc (DFF5), 2 overlapping passes, in large sections at a time, moderate to quick arm speed, 4800 OPMs.

Next up was a non metallic black Dodge Challenger with some random scuff marks & stains. We did some spot repair with our 4 Inch Yellow Foam Pad & D300 Correction Compound, on a 3 inch pneumatic DA. We then followed with our Black Wax on a DFF5 Black Foam Finishing Disc.

We opted to use our Perfect Clarity Headlight Coating from our Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration Kit, which requires no buffing out of the sanding marks and lasts for a year : )

    All complete.

    Thanks for coming out everyone!

To Nick, and Mike, thank you for the opportunity to take my headlights from cloudy to clear! I appreciate you guidance, patience, and encouragement you gave me to take on such a task.
