  • How To Get Rid Of Orange Peel From Perfect Clarity Kit

I have been debating on moving over to headlight restoration systems that use clear coat uv protection instead of my normal sanding and polishing techniques. I have heard a few people griping about the orange peel from spraying the coatings. Not many have shown enough evidence for me to know how much orange peel it actually is. Maybe its an over blown complaint. What opinions do most of you have that have used a kit like the perfect clarity kit? Is this coating strong enough to withstand 3000 grit sanding once it has fully cured to reduce the orange peel? Are there other possible methods for getting rid of the orange peel? Another question I have is, what kind of grit sctotch bright pad is included in the kit? Will it be enough to remove and flatten out the defects of even the worst headlights? Is there a professional version of the perfect clarity kit that can be purchased in bulk if I do decide to switch?

Sorry for all of the questions but I plan to make a true business out of this soon and some of my current clients can be rather picky. I`m sure a lot of the forum members can relate to that.

3000 grit will remove the coating as will the scotch pad. I believe the scotch pad is around 3000 grit. Nick will have to chime in on that.

I noticed no orange peel effect when I used it.

Unfortunately there is no bulk version of the coating or a pro version of the perfect clarity kit.

Thank you for the response to your experience with the orange peel and the fact that even 3000 would remove the coating. Its unfortunate that they do not make a pro version for bulk purchasing. Hopefully in the future they would give us that opportunity.

        1) We do not claim our Perfect Clarity Headlight Coating can be sanded & polished.
        2) Our Perfect Clarity Headlight Coating does an excellent job at self leveling, minimizing any texture. If you are not satisfied with the results, there are no alternative techniques I am aware of to improve the appearance with this particular product.
        3) Our G2000 Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration Kit was designed for moderately oxidized headlights. Any condition beyond moderate we would recommend our Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit. We have seen good results using the sanding discs in our Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit, and then following with the coating from our Perfect Clarity Kit. We have also seen good results with our Professional Unigrit Finishing Discs, refining up to 3000 grit, and then using the coating in the Perfect Clarity Kit as a last step.
        4) At this time there is no professional version of our Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration Kit and at this time the coating in the kit is not available separately, but who knows, SEMA is less than a month away!
