Feedback for my plan of attack...

We're color sanding a freshly painted 1950 Pontiac with 3000 grit. It's a black pearl base with 2K clear from Summit (low VOC). I only have experience with the old G100 so my plan is to first use M105 on a yellow pad with speed at 5. Afterwards I plan on chasing it with M205 on a yellow pad with speed at 5. What do you guys think?

I would think M101 might be a better selection than M105.

Give it a shot and see how the paint responds. If you had a microfiber cutting pad or even the new burgundy foam cutting disc that would be a good start. But give it a go with what you have.

3000 grit should be able to be removed fairly easily with the 105 and the yellow pad, especially considering its a fresh paint job. If you have difficulty change the yellow pad to the burgundy cutting disc and you shouldn't have any problems.

Update...so we went with M101 and foam cutting pads with speed set at 6. Took about 2-3 passes to get those sanding marks out. Lots of work! Would M105 and microfiber cutting discs have been better to use?

I'd say switch to a microfiber cutting pad, but I wouldn't move to M105.

M101 has a much longer work time. If anything I would go to M100, but all three are very similar compounds.
