  • Pictures from October 8th, 2016 Detailing 101 Class

Our last Saturday Class of the year was lead by one of our Customer Engagement Specialists from Meguiar's Solutions Hub, Danny Hernandez. Special Thanks to Danny for leading this class.

Our demonstration car for the day was this Audi S3. We started by properly wiping down the light dust with our Quik Detailer spray and Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel, so we could start evaluating the paint.

This vehicle just had the slightest amount of rough feel when the surface was clean & dry, so we used our Smooth Surface Clay Kit to remove any bonded contaminants.

Danny then discussed the Pro & Cons of the common tools used for working on automotive paint. For more information, check out Mike Stoop's Article, The Beginners Guide to the different types of Paint Polishing Tools

Now that all the dust is remove we can really see the condition of the paint, light to moderate swirls & scratches.

Danny ended up using our Ultimate Compound on our DFP5 Yellow Foam Polishing Disc. In this case we did not need the strength of our DFC5 Foam Cutting Disc, to eliminate all defects.

Time for the class attendants to get a try with our MT300 DA.

Danny showing the attendants how keeping your pad clean during the use of a DA is recommended for best results. Here with a dedicated microfiber towel in one hand, and the machine in the other, you can run the machine at a low speed, and press the microfiber against the pad, to soak up some of the saturation and remove some of the residue. Note: this should only be performed with Random Orbital DA's.

A3 is looking a lot less full of swirls now! Thanks to everyone for coming out!
