  • Re: Meguiar's Ultimate Fast Finish

after my next wash, what product to use? ultimate wax again or can i swap directly onto fast finish?
You could add another layer of Ultimate Fast Finish or use Ultimate Quik Wax.

should i be using paint protect again as a last step?

    I wouldn't.
You already have Ultimate Wax and Ultimate Fast Finish protecting your paint.
Ultimate Fast Finish is super easy to apply and long lasting product. I always use it now to top my favorite wax/sealant.

should it be applied after or before paint protect? or is it better to use only one at a time? thanks

note that ultimate wax has already been applied.

      thanks

I had applied Ultimate Wax to my Camaro, and since, I've applied Ult Fast Finish to the car a few times without any issues. I have quit using the 365 Paint Protect completely - the UFF is just too easy and has better (so far) results than the Paint Protect.

UFF can be used as a stand alone form of protection or over your favorite wax.

With paint protect and UFF being similar in that they both protect the paint for up to 1 year, then I would recommend using either one but not both. UFF will give a glossier appearance and slicker feel. Also better dust repellency.

With having ultimate wax already applied then just use UFF.

Better wait for the official reply, but I don't see why not.

It works well, and actually enhances the look of plastic/rubber/vinyl trim, so it should be fine.

Is there an inconspicuous area where you could test it?

Ultimate Fast Finish is just recommended for paint at this time. We do recommend & approve the use of our G17516 Ultimate Quik Wax on vinyl stripes.

Question for anyone who used UFF. Is it easy to spot were you been? Just waxed with ULW today and with a good light it wasnt so big of a problem to see were i've been (black car). And a last question. How do i know when to reapply the cloth? Silly question i guess, but havn't really found any answers to this. Just done my car today, full package: wash, clay, UC, UP and ULW so i guess i just need to wash it once more before i try UFF.

                      No! lol
I've done two white cars with it and I found it hard to tell where I'd been. Just need to take care and be thorough I guess. However, it might be ok on black..

You can sort of feel it... when the cloth start to drag it means it's a bit dry and it's time to reapply. I just touch the cloth with my (clean) fingers to see how damp it is, to make sure.

Absolutly great! Am looking to use a microfiber sponge instead of the cloth. Seems like you have better controll over it then.

Answer myself. I used the cloth, no problem. And no problem at all to see were i've been on black car. Guess i used to much (repsrayed every panel, better safe then sorry). Havn't seen the final result since it sits in the garage to cure (Swedish summers is well, one moment the sun shine, next it rains).

                          Really super easy!

This past weekend, I used Ultimate Waterless Wash and Wax on my wifes car, then followed it up with Ultimate Fast Finish. Never got to see the actual results as it was in the garage and I finished at night. Next day I had to go to work, then had a game that I had that finished at night, then next day went to work and it rained. Wife said it looked good though, so that is a plus.

Just out of curiosity, how long after applying Waterless Wash and Wax should I have waited before applying Fast Finish. I waited about an hour.

Am planning on doing the same routine with my car this weekend. Mostly as a holdover until I get around to doing my first full detail ever on the cars.

I had a hard time assessing if I had evenly distributed the product on white paint, too. I know that people have mentioned touching the paint as a test, but I'm usually wearing a glove while detailing. Is there any objective way to see how long Fast Finish lasts? What if I have two layers of UPW underneath? Seems like observing water beading or how dust repellent the paint is would be out of the question, because it could be either the FF or the UPW doing its thing.

You don't need to wait for the soap's wax to cure before applying Fast Finish, because the amount of wax in the car soap is minimal. However, if you use another wax (i.e., Ultimate Paste Wax) before topping with Ultimate Fast Finish, it is recommended to wait 12-24 hours for the wax to cure.

Is this no longer carried at Wal-Mart? I didn't see it locally and it's only sold by a third party on their website.
