  • D101 on interior?

When cleaning interior plastic (dash, door panels) with D101, Do you have to wipe everything down with a damp cloth of water?

    Re: D101 on interior?

I use D101 all the time on interiors. Dilute 10:1 and I do wipe everything down afterwards with a damp cloth just to ensure I cleanup as much possible residue as I can.

        Hi torque,

It is not necessary to use this technique with our D101 All Purpose Cleaner. Friendly reminder that D101 All Purpose Cleaner is not recommended for use on Clear Plastics. Our D149 Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner can be used on interior/exterior clear plastics.

Good to know. I do this out of habit with other APC products.

So you don't have to do a damp wipe down after D101 just a good wipe with a dry microfiber. Is there interior parts where I can't use D101 beside clear plastic and navigation screen? Thanks for the reply!

Just giving this thread a bump. Is there any surface where D101 can do damage beside clear plastic and navigation screen and when using it to clean rug/carpets, do have to rinse it out ( i have a little green machine) or do you just use a towel to absorb any D101 and remove any dirt?

For carpets I generally spray D101 10:1 directly on the carpet, then brush, then extract with just water.

If you leave APC on carpet it will cause more dirt to attract later.

It is a versatile product. I've used it on leather, door cards, carpet, etc. I would probably stay away from headliners with it due to how delicate they can be.

I have to do a suv this weekend weather permitting. The owner has two dogs that slobber and licks everything inside the suv and wondering how important it is to remove all traces of the APC is because of the pets. Thanks for the reply!

                    Re: D101 on interior?

I've used D101 as a pre spray for steam cleaning my cats huge cat tree that was donated to us by my sister in law.

You know how cats are... I had to make sure that piece of cat furniture didn't smell like the previous cat or else my cat would've probably refused it, so I used D101 along with a thorough steam cleaning.

End result: Cleaned, steamed, allowed to air dry, blow dried the last bit with my Metro Sidekick, final vacuum, let my cat into the room and she climbed right into 1 of the hammocks and took a long nap. Lol. If you told her that tree was brand new she'd believe it.

I wipedown/clean alot of areas around the house with D101@10:1 including the shelves where the cats beds lay. I have no worries and the cat has never seemed bothered. Just make sure surfaces are dry before returning the vehicle to the owner. I'd bet Clorox household cleaner is far worse for everyones health than diluted D101 would ever be.

I wasn't sure if a damp cloth wipe up was necessary after a wipe down of D101. I just going to spray and wipe and let it air dry thoroughly over night before it get return. Thanks for the reply much appreciated!

I'm usually dressing it after if I use some APC version, so that is a wipe after the APC if anything.

I normally find that D149 does well too on light stuff in my cup holds and such. I usually use D101 on the sills, carpets and heavy areas, but D149 on the rest of the panels and dash.

I did try Quick Interior Detailer first and got mild cleaning done, so I have to step it up to D101. It's a suv daily driver and it pretty much a family hauler and the pets and it has been neglected. The owner ask me to clean it up as best as I can to make it look presentable. Thanks for the reply!
