    Upgraded to Cyclo Model 5

    I purchased a Cyclo Model 5 and Sears 9" Orbital at an auction with the intent of enhancing ability to shine my boat's gel coat. Boat has black Hull and white interior Fiberglass that hasn't been detailed in a couple of years and needs spiffing up. I applied by hand Meguiar 49, 44, 45 and Flagship Premium Marine Wax using Meg yellow high tech foam applicator pads about 3 years ago. I was very pleased with the results, but it took forever so trying to improve and speed up the process this time around

    Any recommendations for applicator pads for the Cyclo to remove light oxidation, polishing, and wax application?

    I'm planning to use the same Meguiars products such that I make one pass with 49 and 44 followed by couple applications of 45 polish and Megs Premium Marine Wax. Does this sound appropriate or am I missing something?

    Congrats on the new machine. In regards to pads, I would suggest sourcing a foam "cutting" pad for Meguiar's Marine/RV #49 Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover, a foam "polishing" pad for Meguiar's Marine/RV #45 High Gloss Polish, and a foam "finishing" pad for Meguiar's Flagship Premium Marine Wax. I am not very familiar with the popular pads which are used on the Cyclo, so I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of the tool for some recommendations or a distributor which sells the machine which is familiar with what pads to use.

    In my opinion you can skip our Meguiar's Marine/RV #44 Color Restorer. The #49 will take care of your defect & oxidation removal, and you can go straight to the #45 Hi Gloss Polish. I don't see the #44 Color Restorer providing you much benefit in this particular process. If the boat or rv had very mild oxidation, you could use the #44 Color Restorer instead of the #49 Oxidation Remover.

      I would get pads directly from Cyclo (Rupes). The pads they make for their polisher are great. For very heavy stuff they even have wool pads for it. They also have heavy cut foam pads (Blue).
