  • D151 PRC vs M61 Flagship Cleaner Wax

    Hello members.
Got a boat to clean later next month.
Will only have time for an One Step.
May I ask how do D151 conpare with the Marine 61?
For example, which one have more cut? And do M61 have more protection? Will be working with DA and some foam cutting pads.
Boat seem to have gel and clear coats at various locations.
    Thanks guys.

Re: D151 PRC vs M61 Flagship Cleaner Wax

Well I checked the ingredients and found D15101 and M6132 are actually very similar products.
Not exactly the same, but similar. Not sure if my high school science is correct or not but this is what I found:

    D151:
    WATER 7732-18-5 50 - 70%
    PETROLEUM DISTILLATE 64742-48-9 10 - 30% = naphtha
    ALUMINUM OXIDE 1344-28-1 3 - 7% = abrasives
    PETROLEUM DISTILLATE 64742-46-7 1 - 5% = paraffin
    POLY(DIMETHYLSILOXANE) 63148-62-9 1 - 5% = silicones
    CALCINED CLAY 66402-68-4 1 - 5% = cleaning
    CONDITIONERS Trade Secret < 5% = polishes

    M61:
    NON-HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS Mixture 60 - 80%
    PETROLEUM DISTILLATE 64742-48-9 10 - 30%
    ALUMINUM OXIDE 1344-28-1 3 - 7%
    PETROLEUM DISTILLATE 64742-46-7 1 - 5%
    POLY(DIMETHYLSILOXANE) 63148-62-9 1 - 5%
    CALCINED CLAY 66402-68-4 1 - 5%
    CONDITIONERS Trade Secret < 5%

Would appreciate anyone who has used them before.
Also, how do they compare with the PBMG's Marine 31 / McKees RV line?
The 2 from PBMG has almost interchangeable descriptions too so guess are twins separated at birth.

Hey PPLd, I am looking into which product will provide you the most cut for a one step on a boat. I am double checking my thoughts with our R&D. Also keep in mind our #50 Marine/RV Cleaner Wax. Will respond back as soon as I know. Sorry for the late response. Been out of office traveling.

Yeah thanks and will look forward to Meguiar's expert opinion regarding how the cut and protection of these products compare when used to clean and protect salt water, sunlight and oxidation.
I heard the M61 is something tough - even better than M63 which is designed more as a beauty wax.

        Meanwhile please enjoy your trip!

Re: D151 PRC vs M61 Flagship Cleaner Wax

Ok so Meguiar's M61 Flagship Premium Cleaner Wax & Meguiar's D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream will cut equally when used as a one step for a fiberglass/gel coat boat/rv. M61 Flagship Premium Cleaner Wax would be a more premium option, offering more durability & longer lasting protection.

M63 Flagship Premium Marine Wax will be our longest lasting, best protecting, and most durable full synthetic polymer based protectant we offer for a boat/rv.
