  • This is war !!!

For the third time in as many days, I have been viciously assaulted by an aerial fiend, who seems to really like my left quarter panel and has dropped a total of FOUR large, crusty, chunky, splattering bombs on my car. And also for the third time in as many days, I had to run out and blast the affected area with strong streams of water to get the bomb remnants off.

Now this really [burns my bagels] because Saturday I did a two-step on the car (Meguiar`s D151 Paint Refinishing Creme + Meguiar`s Ult Fast Finish), then it rained, so I haven`t had a chance to enjoy the fruits of my labors - no time to rewash the car either, so now it sits in the driveway with heavy water spots on the RR corner and dust/pollen and minor water spotting on the rest.

The only positive SO FAR is that even thought the bombs have dried on the paint, they haven`t etched and all signs of them are removable with a lot of high pressure water, some QD spray and a light buffing with a microfiber.

I just wanted to warn all of you that the enemy is out there, somewhere above us and he wants to destroy your perfect finishes.

So look to the skies and beware, you could be next.

I don't know if you are old enough to remember a comedian Red Skelton. He would place his fists in his armpits to make wings, and you knew Getrude and Heathcliff would be speaking.

Gertrude: "I haven't seen any of those new red sporty convertibles yet this year".
Heathcliff: "I spotted one just this morning".

I remember Redd Skelton but I never got to see much of his career

Therefore it's so important to have a protection layer on vehicles. This sacrificial barrier is very important otherwise all those air bombs just etch very quickly. Sometimes even paint sanding is necessary to fully remove those defects.

High level of air activity in my area as well. A bottle of UQD and microfiber towel always ready for rescue action in my car's trunk.

I keep a bottle of D115 mixed 8:1 in my car along with a ton of microfibers, BUT these bombs are not the garden variety splatters, they are Pterodactyl sized and about 1/8" thick and dry like cement. The only way they come off is by using high pressure water and a lot of it ... only then can I used the D115 and a cloth to get rid of the 'ghosting' the bomb makes when the water tries to bead/sheet off.

I'll be curious to see how the UFF held up to the bird bombs when you get a chance to do a proper wash job.

So far all 3 times I hosed the offending poo off with the hose, then wiped down the area with D115. Then I rinsed it with the hose again. There was no etching before the rinse and no "shadowing" where the water was beautifully beading/sheeting off the panel.

Nice to hear that, Don. Thanks.
I'm trying to use up some of the PP365 on my wife and daughter's cars first, but looks like it will be UFF when Winter prep time comes around.
