Our friends from Team Hybrid Car Club spent the day at Meguiar's for our Saturday Detailing 101 Class.
The demonstration car wash this black 2014 Kia Optima.
We started by wiping down the dust with our Quik Detailer Mist & Wipe spray and then proceeded to clay bar the hood with our Smooth Surface Clay Kit.
Next was to inspect the paint for the below surface defects, and you can tell by everyone's faces that the Sun Gun doesn't lie!
The paint was loaded with swirls & scratches.
We then discussed the differences between the common types of machines used for working on automotive paint.
Our test spot consisted of our Ultimate Compound applied with our MT300 Dual Action Polisher on a DFC5 Soft Buff DA Foam Cutting Disc. 5800 OPM's, moderate pressure, moderate to slow arm speed, 4 passes in each section.
The combination achieved about 90% defect removal. While we could have stepped up to a more aggressive setup, with so many attendants looking to get their hands on the DA, we decided to complete the above process two times on the hood.
We also set up an area where attendants could try their defect removal skills on our test panels.
Work continues on the hood also.
I believe this picture was the "Ok everyone stand around the hood & look impressed." : )
Our results after Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, and Ultimate Wax, all applied with our MT300 Dual Action Polisher. Great work everyone & feel free to contact me with any questions!
