    Backing Plate/Pads suggestions for the MT300?

    Hey guys,

    I'm a novice that never touched a polisher before and I finally got myself the MT300.
    I was about to order the DMCKIT5 from Amazon (I live in Canada).

    Then I started wondering:
    Is the Micro fiber system being phased out?
    Is the DMCKIT5 kit the best for the buck accounting for the fact that I already have almost full bottles of Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Compound?
    Shall I pile up on MF pads in case they are no longer produced in a few months/years?
    Or should I rather go straight to foam pads and ignore the Microfiber thing altogether?

    What should a week-end warrior get to complete his MT300?

    I already own the DAPS system. I have heard that 3" MF pads are no longer available. Is it true?

    All suggestions welcomed.

    As far as I know the microfiber system is not being phased out.

    Hard to say if it is the best kit. I will say that D300 on the microfiber cutting pads works well for those paints that are hard or in general have sever defects.

    My advice would be to test spot the paint and see what works. If you need more cut than a foam pad then the microfiber cuttings pads are a good choice.

    What you need to go along with the MT300 is a set of pads and a backing plate. Get yourself the 5" backing plate and the Meguiar's thin foam pads are great pads. It is always a good idea to have some microfiber pads for those times you may need them.

    To answer your question about the 3" microfiber pads, then yes they are discontinued.

        Thanks a lot for your answers guys.
        (especially for the tip on the 3" pads!)

        I'll shoot for DBP5 + DMC5 + DMF5 + Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish.

        I'll try it out in a couple of weeks and let you know how it turns out.
