Pictures from Meguiar's July 27th, 2017 Thursday Night Open Garage

We only had a couple projects to work on during this night's Thursday Night Open Garage but they both were dramatic makeovers.

First up we had a attendant in the area from Florida on business to attend our TNOG. He was looking to become more familiar using a DA Polisher. Then we asked, do you have a rental car? And sure enough he did. Upon pulling the car into the garage, it was the perfect car to demonstrate on, with very heavy swirls & scratches especially on the horizontal surfaces like the hood.

If you look closely you can see the straight line scratches probably from washing with an aggressive bristled brush.

We also had a regular attendant's Buick Lowrider in for some paint correction. Another similar blue colored car, the owner had not worked on the paint since it had been re-painted some years ago.

Below are some of the defects we were presented with, left over sanding marks, swirls, fairly deep scratches throughout.

There was also all kinds of dirt nibs & heavy texture in the paint, but we didn't plan on addressing these on this night.

Back to the blue Kia we started by wiping down the hood with our Quik Detailer Mist & Wipe to safely remove the light dust & dirt. We then used our Smooth Surface Clay Kit to remove the bonded above surface contaminants.

Back to the buick, M205 Ultra Finishing Polish was tested on our MT300 with a DFC5 Foam Cutting Disc. This combination can typically work quite well for a one step, but for this car it did not provide enough defect removal for our satisfaction.

M105 Ultra Cut Compound was used on a DMC5 5 " DA Microfiber Cutting Disc with our MT300 DA Polisher.

Before & After on the Buick after M105.

We also ended up using a DA Microfiber Cutting Disc on the Kia, but this time with the compound in our DA Microfiber Correction System, D300 DA Microfiber Correction Compound. We laid a tape line down diagonally through the middle of the hood to show the before & after results.

And what a dramatic different our DA Microfiber Correction System made! This is just after the compound step.

Last project for the night was a simple waterless wash on this 2017 Ford Raptor in Avalanche Grey. We used our Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax along with our Supreme Shine Microfiber Towels. An awesome 1/2 ton truck to say the least!
