So I am short, old and unstable (yes that too) when on a ladder.

I am OK with the Civic or the El Camino. However the full size pickup is just way to tall.

I worry about a ladder putting me too far from the vehicle, having an edge that would scratch the car, uncomfortable for long stays on the feet, or not be stable for my 225 pound frame.

Please show me your ladder, and tell me what you like about it for detailing.

Pick up a work platform and never look back:

They are much more stable on the ground and easier to keep your balance as you can move around on them. You can also cover a larger areas of something like the roof for the same reason.
