Re: NEW Product - Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax

Cruz Rather than D116 (as said in the videos), I believe you are using D166
Meguiar's D116 is Pro Protein Stain Remover
Meguiar's D166 is the newly released Ultra Polishing Wax

Should it be easy to correct the video title and announce the correction at the start of the video should help.

If I choose to use ultra polishing wax D166 is it better to use a microfiber or foam applicator.

          Ron
Just after the D166 release, I had the opportunity to use it at the Special Thursday Night Open Garage.
I don't have a ton of experience. I normally use a 3 inch and 5 inch microfiber pad for heavier work.
That night I was using a 5 inch burgundy foam cutting pad on my half of the roof of a really rough black VW.
Across the roof was a highly skilled detailer using a 5 inch microfiber cutting pad.
Since we were using each other's prefered pad, I compared the two halves of the roof
His side came out better with the MF pad than I did on with the burgundy foam cutting pad.

Since as Junkman says "technique trumps product", and I give the edge to his technique, I will suggest considering doing a test panel with each.
Depending on your need for correction, you may not need cutting pads and may be able to use polishing pads.

Re: NEW Product - Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax

How does this product compare to White Wax? I like White Wax for smaller areas but its way too much like toothpaste to do the entire car. Does this have consistency like Color-X or Red Bottle A23 Cleaner Wax (but strength like white wax)?

See if this answers your question on consistency.

Re: NEW Product - Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax

So I'm interesting in this product as well.
                  Had a few questions.

                  1) In terms of cutting power, roughly where does this sit on the scale compared to: Swirl-X(4) and UP(3) and MG#9(2) and MG#6(1)

                  2) I reading the formula has Silicone + Polymers + Carnauba, and someone asked if it has the same Sealant/Polymer longevity as M21, and I thought the answer was "equivalent"... is this correct?

                  3) For #2 question, are you able to rate (in order) what portion of each product (silicon/polymer/carnabua) does this formula have the most of? (not sure if this can be disclosed)

                  4) Is this product safe for paint environment?

                  5) Can this product be used in direct sun?

Re: NEW Product - Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax

Finally my D166 will arrive this afternoon, due to delays from the shipping site. I can't wait to take it for a spin.

D151 was my long time favorite all in one, so I expect D166 to take over its place, due to its newer technology.

I know I'm a little late to this party but...I just picked some up.

Any tips from the folks that have been using D166? (pad, machine, speed etc.)

I'm looking forward to taking it "once around the block".

It contains SMAT abrasives which are found in many of the polishes.

You're not really late to the party Merlin, still tons of experimentation going on. I've used D166 on white and orange CCS pads, Meg's microfiber cutting pad, and a synthetic wool pad. I've been on Meguiar's and Porter Cable DA's or a Flex forced rotation, with soft and hard clear coat paints. And of course I've gotten ever varying results. The long and short of it is, I like it better than 151, and I've been a big 151 fan for years. If longevity plays out to be as good as advertised, that's the big selling point for me.

Try it, and play with it, you'll like it.

Using the DA Polisher on a car with good paint and light to moderate swirls, which would be the preferred foam pad/disc to use Red, Yellow or Black?

                              Thanks,

                                Hi Vettefan,

Based on your description of the vehicles condition, our Soft Buff DA Yellow Foam Disc would likely be the best pad for using D166. Keep in mind this is a Cleaner/Wax, so you should not expect 90% defect removal in most cases. Whenever a person uses a one step cleaner wax, their goals & expectations should be set appropriately. Even though this is Meguiar's most aggressive cutting & most durable one step cleaner wax we currently offer, this is not a replacement to a multi step process with a dedicated compound, finishing polish, and protectant.
