First Time Using MT300

Recently picked up an MT300 which is my first DA polisher that I have ever tried as I am just recently getting into the detailing game. I noticed when I take it up to 5800 to use UC that it would vibrate my hand pretty hard and hurt it and wear it out. Is this normal for a first timer and I just need to get used to it?

I would say it's normal. The MT300 is a great machine. You will like it.

Some vibration is normal, and slightly increased vibration at a higher speed is normal, but if this vibration is to the point where it is hurting your hands, there is a possibility the machine may not be operating correctly.

I noticed a lot of vibration too when I first used the MT-300, I removed the handle and it was much more comfortable. Maybe give that a try?

HockeyCrazi, I may try that next time I use it. I know I've seen more than one video where people just forgo the handle and it worked just fine for them.

Nick, I'm not too worried about it yet. Probably just me getting used to it cuz it was literally my first time ever using something like that. And no apologies necessary. I have always used Meguiars products and I have NEVER come across one I didn't love once I either A) Learned how to use it, or B) Read the directions and did it the right way (Perfect Clarity Glads Cleaner comes to mind, lol).

For what it's worth, I have an MT300, and using megs foam and mf discs, i've never had a need to take it up to 5800 OPM, 4800 is what I use when I'm using a compound, and it's fairly smooth. 4800 with d300 or UC on a megs mf cutting disc was more than enough to remove 99% of the defects on my Altima that hadn't ever been properly washed or detailed in the 5 years before I owned it.

This makes sense as the microfiber pads work best at 4800 OPM's as microfiber offers more correction and there is no need to generate more heat at higher OPM's. With foam 5800 OPM's is a good speed to remove defects as the foam pad does not cut as much as a microfiber pad. Although the Meguiar's foam burgundy cutting disc is pretty close yet it finishes down better than the microfiber cutting pad.

I am in agreement that this is a new experience for the OP so it will take some time to get used to using a machine.

That's good to know, actually. I haven't used the megs burgundy cutting discs, but I snagged up a dozen 5" cutting/polishing discs. I'm excited to make the swap from 6" pads to 5, as well as try out the burgundy disc.

I suppose I did swap right to mf pads when I figured out (real fast) that the "kit" i bought on autogeek was less than stellar. really I don't know why they sell the kits with the crazy thick foam pads, but I have a whole bunch laying around that I don't ever use now. I might chop them up and make a little foam pit out of them.
