  • Is this a "detailer's signature"?

A little difficult to see in the pictures, but they are clearly circular. There are about 4 or 5 of these on the car.

My car was painted two weeks ago. The only thing I've done so far is wash it with Meg's shampoo/conditioner (**NON** wax) and ONR Rinse & Shine (**NON** wax). I never apply soap or dry in circles, only in the straight lines.

Looks like the glaze the body shop used has been washed off and you are now seeing their work. These are rotary holograms. Easily removed with a dual action polisher and a polish and/or compound.

Agree with Guz, and they should be the ones to remove/correct the holograms. A reputable shop would. But, it may also be related to the price you paid for the repaint.

Exactly the reason why when the dealership offered to get rid of the swirl marks on my Azera, I told them I'd do it myself.

After 40,000 miles, the head service writer complimented me on the finish.

I would say this is a "body shop" signature. Very common. Almost normal here in the US unfortunately.

Yep. I had my car pelted with golf ball hail a few years ago, had a windshield replaced and the dents taken out at a local dealership bodyshop. They did a great job with the dents, but when I was dropping it off the guy said to me, "Hey, we'll even detail it, too!"

I asked them to please not do that and just take the dents out. About two days later I went to pick it up, came to find the whole body swirled and scratched to hell (black car). I said to the guy, "This is exactly why I asked you to not detail it. I foresaw this." He responded, "Well, we do have a paint correction service for $150, if you wanna leave it here a few more days." I left (thankfully without punching him after that), and spent the afternoon with my dual action and a bottle of UC.

Understood. The car I have now has some swirl marks on the rear pillars and suggests the remainder of the vehicle has them too.

I wasn't thrilled about the purchase (got hosed on the deal, another story) but now the swirl marks are aggravating me.

Back to the wash, clay UC with my Harbor Freight DA orbiter and wax.

(BTW, the signature is now outdated. I traded the Azera in for the Santa Fe. Was the absolute worst deal I signed and the only reason I did is I was well over the mileage on the Azera lease. I am not spending a dime at that dealership again.)
