  • Getting a New Mustang - How Long Do I Need To Wait Before Waxing?

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I posted. Before I ask my question, I did check the frequently asked section and also tried a search.

I have a factory order in on a 2018 Mustang GT in Ruby Red. Do you need to wait for a while with new factory paint before waxing, or are you pretty much good to go these days?

    Thanks.

Wax right away. No need to wait unlike an aftermarket paint job.

Not necessarily. After getting T boned, I needed a new fender, and two doors. I asked the body shop if I could wax immediately and he said yes, and then proceeded to tell me why I could. Not only was the finish baked, but it also has a chemical hardener. After 24 hours, and by the time I got the car back, the paint and clear coat was as hard as it will ever be. As a matter of fact, they even waxed the three parts already, plus applied rust proofing on the inner panels. This shop does great work and the repairs are guaranteed for life.
