  • Meguiar's G18216 Ultimate Liquid Wax Separates?

I am posting here in hopes of getting some type of reply from a Meguiar's employee.
    I posted 2-11-2018 In the consumer line-product discussion & as of today...653 views & 0 replies!

I've used this product several times before. Directions do not say to shake it.

I detailed my car February 10, 2018 and the ULW (purchased early 2016) mostly came out of the bottle as usual, white, opaque color. But some came out much thinner

Nothing is working & I can't even delete these replies! Every time I attempt to post, it cuts off after the word "Thinner."
But, it always looks correct & complete in the preview.

I'll try to post in sections:
Clear or translucent color and very runny like water! At the time, I began shaking it, which may have helped a bit. The product still worked great, nice shine.

          Has it gone bad?

Since the product worked well last month, despite the annoying separation/ runny application issue… I tried it again on my other car today. Well, this time it was water like, separated and runny the entire time! I did shake it many times. I was a bit worried but, it still ended up giving me a great shine!

I'm going to assume ULW goes bad after 18 months to 2 years... even when stored in the house, at room temperature. So, I will trash the rest of the bottle and maybe I will buy the new formulation, right before it's time to Wax again. I certainly won't stock up on it, since it goes bad. I may also take this opportunity to try a different brand.

But, maybe all the liquid waxes go bad? I do like using it but, when it's runny and separated, it is more difficult to use and makes me think I shouldn't be using it. I may be getting too much of one ingredient and not enough of another in different spots, since it separates and runs.

It was 78 degrees when I applied it.

(End Post, sorry for the method I had to use to get a single post to appear)

Re: Meguiar's G18216 Ultimate Liquid Wax Separates?

                    Hi Iconoclast,

Sorry to see we missed your original post back on 2/11, sorry to hear about your difficulty posting, and sorry to hear about your trouble with our Ultimate Liquid Wax.

It does sound as though your product is in a spoiled state since it is separated in consistency & will not go back upon shaking up. Rest assured that it would never hurt to use a spoiled product, it is just not going to perform as well.

Meguiar's products have a shelf life of 3 - 5 years, should be stored at room temperature, and should not be exposed to prolonged extreme heat or cold. If you think the product was stored in proper conditions, it's possible there may have been something which happened to it in storage prior to you even purchasing it. There are many possibilities which could have led to this happening.

With that said, we have great team members on our phones/via e-mail/via facebook DM/via Live Chat on meguiars.com, ready to help. Please contact Meguiar's Solutions Hub at 800-347-5700, customercare@meguiars.com, or one of the other channels mentioned above for assistance.

                    Thank you,

                    Nick

                      Iconoclast.
Any chance you are typing into another software and then trying to paste into the forum?

I tried to type in a word processing program, to have spell check and formatting set up. Then post into the Forum Software.
That does not work. There are hidden control characters for line return, formatting, color etc. in the first software that are interpreted differently by the forum software.

No, I am typing directly into the reply field on the forum webpage. However, it's a good thought since that is exactly what I was doing when I first joined the forum and attempted to make my first post! I typically do that for all other forums without issue.

If I use a specific pattern of punctuation marks, it will delete a bunch of my text.

                          Very frustrating.

We need to know what specific pattern of punctuation causes these problems!
