    Hot Rims

I started to use Hot Rims wheel and tire cleaner. I followed instructions and I used up 60% of the bottle in one wash. My tires are 18-inch.

At this rate, a bottle would not last even 2 washes. Is this normal? Did I misinterpret the instructions?

This product sells for $15CAN in Canadian. This is expensive if I have to use more than half for one wash.

    Hi mis3,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. You should not need 40% of the product for 4 sets of wheels. I think this could be a simply adjustment of technique to get you much more life out of the bottle.

Below is a couple videos which show great technique for spraying wheels with a wheel cleaner. Notice how the person in the video sort of "sprays & moves" at the same time. I do not know if you were, but the product does not need one full squeeze of the trigger in one isolated area to be effective. Hopefully you were not spraying the product like demonstrated in the below videos, so this can be a quick fix.

Disregard the metal polishing instruction in the below video, and just focus on the technique at 00:36 seconds

We look forward to hearing back from you!

    Re: Hot Rims

To clarify. I used up 60% just for 4 wheels, not even the tires. The way it is going, my 2 bottles of Hot Rims would last me only 3 washes.

Even it takes 30% of a bottle to clean 4 wheels, one bottle would last only 3 washes. Considering the Canadian retail price of $15CAN ($13.95 + tax), it would mean $5 per wash. While end result is great, this is quite expensive.

    Re: Hot Rims

How long had it been since the wheels were last cleaned?
Was this multiple applications during one cleaning.

For dirty wheels, you might need to use a very soft brush to agitate the cleaner to help remove very stubborn brake residue.
Since brake dust is abrasiveness, do not use the brush on any other car part.
