Pictures from Meguiar's July 12th, 2018 Thursday Night Open Garage

What another busy Thursday Night Open Garage!

The day started early at 5:00am, getting up to get to the office to wash this 2012 Bentley Continental GT, which we used to shoot pictures for an upcoming article.

Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner working. Doesn't get old!

Stay tuned for the article coming soon!

Anyways on to TNOG. Garage is open, let's get this thing going! Who has something to work on?!

So as I was getting some projects started in the garage, I look over and Brad & Santiago are about so start buffing on a 15 year old Hyundai, wearing single stage white paint, which had been seriously neglected. The owner said so himself. The owner was a brother of a class attendant, who is interested in learning how to use a d/a polisher, so he brought his brothers car! : ) I checked out what Santiago & Brad were up to, D166 Ultra Polishing Wax with our MT300 Dual Action Polisher.

Here is Santiago giving the class attendant (Robert I believe) some tips on using our MT300 Dual Action Polisher! Love it! I worked with him to make sure he was comfortable with the basics of the tool before he left for the night.

Back in the garage, Jerry brought his 2017 HD Street Glide. Let's just say it had a few swirls & scratches!

    Yikes!

And our first attempt after M105 Ultra Cut Compound. We are getting somewhere.

And back to the Hyundai, looks like a little progress is being made?! Check these 50/50 pictures out!

Not bad at all for a Cleaner Wax.

What's this? Another single stage paint. Lexus RX350. What's this again, everyone is starting without me! First up is to clay the surface, it had a serious build up of above surface contaminants from neglect over the years.

After M100 Pro Speed Compound via MT300 Dual Action Polisher, applied with our DMC5 DA Microfiber Cutting Disc.

And back to the lexus, little paint correction going on tonight?!?

And back to the Harley. This was our result after M105 Ultra Cut Compund & M205 Ultra Finishing Polish, on a yellow foam polishing pad. Quite a bit of DA Haze left behind. What to do? I took a look at the pad & noticed it was loaded up with a decent amount of product. Whenever you are having trouble with soft dark colored paint, like this Harley, many times it can be related to how much abrasive is in your pad. M205 Ultra Finishing Polish is a finishing polish, but if too much product is used, sometimes it doesn't like to finish out completely perfect in these rare situations.

    So what did we do?

Took the air compressor blow gun, blew out the pad, did not add any more product, only used the residual product in the pad, did a couple quick passes, and this was our result. Much better. This could have been improved on even more with a black finishing pad, & even more finessing, but this result far exceeded the owners expectations so he decided to move forward with this combination.

Bike is looking a little different now!

    Jerry is happy now!

With limited time left, D166 Ultra Polishing Wax via yellow foam polishing pad was used on the Bentley Continental GT. It removed around 80+% of the swirls/scratches, dramatically brightened up the paint, and of course provided us with some protection.

Thanks to everyone for coming out!

Looks like you had some fun!

Jealous of Santiago's hair... It's growing in though!
