    Cleaning Info/Intertainment screens -

Looking at helping someone with about a 2010 Prius.
The info/intertainment screen has become difficult to read.

How careful do we need to be to clean the screen?
What is best to use to clean the screen?
Can we rub a little with a preferred scratch remover?
What would be a preferred scratch remover.

The screen is hard to read with glare. Is there a screen protector that reduces glare and still allows the digitizer to sense your fingers?

I use Quik Interior Detailer. Spray on to a MF towel and gently wipe, buff off.

As to how much we can 'rub' on the screen...I just go gentle. They appear (to me) to be rather fragile-easy to scratch etc.

I know there are screen protectors made for all the different sizes and shapes. Give me a couple o' hours and I'll try and dig up some names for ya.

Take a look at nushield.com . From what I've read, seems like they have their act together.

The NAV screens typically have a plastic face and they usually have a fragile, anti-reflective coating. I occasionally use QID with a microfiber designed for eyeglasses to gently remove dust & fingerprints. I'd recommend that you not use a scratch remover or anything abrasive or you will likely make the screen worse.

    Jim-

Stupid question but where can one get those 'towels' other than the tiny 4"X4" they give you when you buy new glasses?

The following products we approve & recommend for use on clear plastic audio component/navigation screens:

    G13616 Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner
    D14901 Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner
M1808 Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Detailer

We would also recommend using a gently touch and a premium microfiber towel like our X2020 Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel. Many like to spray product directly onto towel, and then use to clean the clear plastic screen.

As far as defect removal goes, it has to be a hard to the touch, un-coated clear plastic. Below are some products which can be used in least to most aggressive:

M1008 Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Polish
M1708 Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner
    M205 Ultra Finishing Polish
G12310 PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish.

If working by hand, we would suggest using a soft foam applicator pad like our W0004 Soft Foam Applicator Pads.

    Hope this information was helpful.

Bill, you can search on Amazon

MagicFiber Microfiber Cleaning Cloths, Original 6" x 7"
MagicFiber Microfiber Cleaning Cloths, EXTRA LARGE PACK 16" x 16"

These larger sized cloths are great for computer and tablet screens as well.
