  • Smooth Surface Clay Kit vs C2000 Mild Clay Bar

    Hi,

I have always used the clay bar found in the Smooth Surface Clay Kit and I am quite familiar with its abilities.
I would like to know how this compare to the mild clay bar from the professional line. Can anyone please give me a comparision?

    Hi Vifa,

While both are considered "mild' Meguiar's C2000 Professional Mild Detailing Clay is a step above in aggressiveness, compared to the clay included in our Smooth Surface Clay Kit.

      Hi Nick,

Should I then take any precautions when using the C2000?
I normally clay my single stage paint Dodge `49 once a year, could the C2000 cause any haze to the paint compared to the other clay bar?

We rarely hear of our C2000 Professional Mild Detailing Clay causing haze, so I would not be too worried about it. Just do a test spot. It's really just our C2100 Professional Aggressive Detailing Clay which will commonly haze paint, unless you have a crazy, ultra soft dark colored paint.

I never really understood why a clay bar could cause haze to the paint - I thought it was supposed to be non-abrasive?

It's abrasive... the Mild clays + Lubricant make it minimal to the paint.

But going stronger, or less lubricant, you could marr the paint. Same as dragging anything else around on the paint.
