    Thanks Nick - I think I'm good now...with one exception:
    Is it possible (or recommended) to move up to a 6", 6.5" foam or microfiber pad even though the base of the DA is set at 5" ?

    What specific D/A Machine are you using?

    I final purchased a Torqx DA polisher...however, I have not been able to find any info on which color pad to use.
    Nick, Syswizard has a new Torqx DA.

    SysWizard
    On DA, the smaller the pad, the more aggressive. The work from the machine oscillations is concentrated in to a smaller area on a smaller pad.
    An example in a Meguiar's DA Microfiber System

    6 inch MF cutting pad, aggressive
    5 inch MF cutting pad, more aggressive
    3 inch MF cutting pad, even more aggressive

    Thanks Bear, and that makes sense.
    Any reason I cannot use Meguiar's pads on a Torqx DA ?
    Note: I only got the Torqx because it was a returned item on sale.

    So, the Ultimate Compound is M105 and Ultimate Polish is M205. When you say "for the consumer" is it just the pretty packaging or is there another difference?

    And what would be the corresponding pads that you'd use with them? Not talking microfiber, but foam.

    No, there are significant differences.

    For instance, Ultimate Compound has a richer lubricating matrix, which resists drying out, and producing a ton of dust. M105 is designed for short buffing cycles. Unfortunately a lot of users want to use it for extended periods which causes a lot of dust. The dusting shows just much that product is loaded with abrasives.

    Ultimate Polish seems more similar to it's professional counterpart - M205. To me finish of both is incredible, but M205 seems more "pure". I love UP. Probably my favorite product of all time.

    Yellow/Orange/Green: compound

    Blue: glaze

    At least that's what I've gleaned from the videos.

    What about the microfiber pads ?
    You must have the Chemical Guys pads.

    I've tried all of those a lot, years ago.

    I'm not a fan of the yellow orange or white, so I sold them all on eBay or the FB trading post.

    Green - Compound
    Blue - Polish
    Black - Cleaner Wax
    Red - Sealant

    In the situation where I need more cut during the compounding step, I use a microfiber cutting pad.

    To make it even more simple, I might use the Cleaner Wax with the Blue pad too.

    I find the Yellow, Orange, and White foams are too stiff, and too smooth to work without a lot of pressure, which works against getting good pad rotation.

    Usually Buff and Shine.

    Foam:
    Black = Cleaner Wax
    Red = Sealant
    Blue = Polish
    Green = Compound
    Orange/Black Microfiber = Compound.

    I also have some Lake Country Hydrotech, Meguiar's Thin Foam discs, and microfiber system discs.
