  • Please Help!

First - Yes, I know, I need to get a DA. I plan on doing that soon, but it will take some time to really get my rhythm with it.

Second - I have a 2016 Nissan Rogue (Black). The paint has 40k miles on it, and it's in decent shape. However, it does have some swirls here and there. In order to fix it, I was thinking about using ultimate polish (by hand on the entire car) and then something like an regular wax or AIO afterwards. Would that work? Will the ultimate polish remove all of the swirls?

My biggest issue is holograms in the direct sunlight when I use some waxes/cleaners. Currently, I have no issues, but I am afraid to try and fix something and make it worse. I guess my thing is, will the Ult. Polish mess up the paint more than it's worth if it's not done correctly or by DA?

Is there a good AIO that will remove swirls?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jman136,

As you already know, in general you are going to be limited in how much you can remove by hand. Ultimate Polish does have some good cleaning ability to remove light swirls, whether or not it will remove all of the swirls on your car depends on a lot of variables:

How you are applying the product (for maximum defect removal with Ultimate Polish, would recommend using moderate pressure & working product in for about a minute or so)
What you are applying the product with (would recommend soft foam to apply like our W0004 Soft Foam Applicator & Microfiber Towel to remove)
Size of working area (for maximum defect removal by hand would recommend about 1 square foot or so at a time)
How the paint responds (with some paints defects will come out easier/with others they are more resilient/most cars are resilient)
    The severity of the swirls

When you say holograms, are you referring to actually swirls/trails put in from a rotary machine? If so, it is like going to take a machine to get these out, like a D/A. Or are you referring to some other issue? It sounds like you might be referring to streaks/smears when removing wax. Please clarify. Thanks!

As far as an AIO Cleaner Wax, our D166 Ultra Polishing Wax would have the most defect removal capability at this time.

Hope this gives you a good start! Feel free to post further questions/keep us updated.
